At the most critical moment, Levis appeared directly in front of the group, his expression sharp and focused. Without hesitation, he slammed his foot into the ground with overwhelming force, his voice cutting through the chaos.
"Get back!"
Vector control surged outward instantly, twisting the flow of energy beneath the earth. In the next second, the ground itself split apart and surged forward violently, as if the land had been turned into a raging tide.
From a distance, the streets on both sides rose like massive waves, crashing toward each other with devastating force.
Boom!!!
The collision shook everything. Gravel shot through the air, dust and debris swallowed the surroundings, and visibility dropped to almost nothing. The sheer scale of destruction made it difficult to even comprehend what had just happened.
But one thing was clear.
The Dark Phoenix's attack had been stopped.
Polaris stared at the aftermath, her eyes filled with disbelief. The sheer destructive power on display felt overwhelming, and for a brief moment, she couldn't help but wonder if this was what a true Level Five mutant battle looked like.
If Levis knew what she was thinking, he would have dismissed it immediately.
The scene might have looked catastrophic, but the Dark Phoenix hadn't truly gone all out. Somewhere deep inside, Jean's lingering consciousness was still restraining it, preventing it from unleashing its full power.
Otherwise… this would have been far worse.
"Don't come near me again!"
The Dark Phoenix hovered in the air, her voice filled with rage as she prepared to leave.
"We can't let her go!" Cyclops shouted anxiously, struggling to push himself forward despite everything.
"Wes!" Professor X called out, urgency clear in his tone.
Levis didn't hesitate.
With a single thought, vector control activated again, launching him into the sky in an instant. He appeared directly in front of the Dark Phoenix, cutting off her path.
"You again!!!"
Recognition flashed in her eyes. She raised her hand, and a surge of red energy erupted forward, blasting toward him with terrifying force.
"So that's the Phoenix Force… Let's see if I can beat you back again."
Levis didn't hold anything back this time. Vector manipulation surged to its peak as he threw a punch straight into the oncoming energy.
The collision exploded outward, and the Phoenix Force was shattered, dispersing into the air.
For a moment, the Dark Phoenix seemed stunned.
Then her expression twisted, fury rising as she felt challenged.
A far greater surge of power gathered, condensing into the form of a blazing phoenix made of fire. With a deafening roar, it charged toward Levis.
Everything in its path was annihilated. Houses below were instantly reduced to charred remnants, as if they had been burned into carbon in a single instant.
"Be careful, Wes!" Polaris shouted from below, her voice filled with panic.
Even Levis couldn't take this lightly.
But this time, he didn't dodge.
Instead, he moved forward.
"Energy Absorption."
The flames engulfed him completely. From the outside, it looked as if he had been swallowed whole, his body consumed by the Phoenix's fire.
"Wes!" Polaris' pupils shrank in shock as she instinctively tried to rush forward, only to be stopped by Storm.
"Lorna, don't," Storm said firmly, holding her back. "He'll be fine."
"Trust him," Professor X added, his voice steady. "He will find a way."
High above, the raging flames began to change.
The fire twisted, spiraling inward like a vortex, pulling everything toward a single point. Gradually, the overwhelming blaze diminished, revealing Levis once more.
"What an insane amount of power…"
After absorbing such a vast amount of Phoenix energy, even he felt the strain. The sheer force coursing through his body pushed him to the edge, but at the same time, it elevated him to an entirely new level.
For a brief moment, his strength had reached something dangerously close to that of a Level Five mutant.
A faint smile appeared at the corner of his lips.
"My turn."
He raised his hand, and dozens of glowing orbs formed behind him, floating in perfect alignment. Each one pulsed with condensed energy, radiating destructive potential.
"Atomic Collapse."
In the next instant, beams of pure white light shot forward, tearing through the air as they targeted the Dark Phoenix.
Below, Cyclops and Storm stared in shock.
"What kind of ability is that?" Cyclops muttered, unable to hide his disbelief.
"I've never seen him use it before," Polaris said, her brow furrowed. "But it has to be powerful…"
The beams reached their target in the blink of an eye.
The Dark Phoenix reacted instantly.
She thrust both hands forward, unleashing another surge of Phoenix Force. The red energy collided with the white beams, and for a moment, neither side advanced even an inch.
Levis' expression darkened.
"Even this isn't enough…"
He clenched his hand, his gaze sharpening. "Then let's try something else."
With a subtle motion, he reached out toward the Dark Phoenix.
The space around her shifted.
Like a mirror being flipped inside out, the surrounding air distorted, taking on a metallic sheen as if reality itself had been inverted.
"Space Reversal."
It was the first time he had used this technique in combat.
The space surrounding the Dark Phoenix began to collapse inward, folding and compressing toward her from all directions. It was a direct attack on the fabric of reality itself, something that ordinary defenses couldn't block.
Cracking sounds echoed as space warped violently.
Levis watched closely, his focus absolute. If she couldn't resist this, he would need to pull back before things went too far.
But his concern proved unnecessary.
The Dark Phoenix raised her head, her eyes burning with crimson light.
In the next instant, an overwhelming surge of Phoenix Force erupted from her body, expanding outward in all directions.
The warped space shattered instantly.
"Of course it wouldn't be that easy," Levis muttered, his expression tightening slightly.
"Phoenix!!!"
Her scream echoed through the sky.
An endless flood of red energy poured outward, staining the heavens in a deep crimson hue. The sheer scale of power was terrifying, distorting everything around it.
Far above, aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier, the surge didn't go unnoticed.
"Coulson, what's going on down there?" Nick Fury demanded, his expression tense as he stared at the disrupted satellite feed.
The interference was too severe. The energy alone was enough to block all observation.
"Director, I have visual confirmation," Phil Coulson reported. "It's Wes… and another individual."
"Wes?" Fury's eye narrowed. "What the hell is that kid doing now?"
Based on their readings, the energy output was enough to level an entire city.
If something went wrong, New York itself could be wiped out.
"The other person is a woman—Jean Grey. She's a teacher at the Mutant Academy," Coulson added.
Fury exhaled slowly, rubbing his temple. "Great. Just great… Now all we can do is hope they don't tear the city apart."
Back on the battlefield, Levis could feel the situation spiraling.
If the Dark Phoenix kept releasing power at this level, everything around them would be destroyed.
He couldn't let that happen.
"Get back under control!"
With a sharp shout, he charged forward, diving straight into the storm of Phoenix energy.
At the same time, his vector manipulation reached its absolute limit. Every direction, every force, every fluctuation of energy—his mind calculated it all at insane speeds.
Then he struck.
The punch connected with the raging Phoenix Force, and for the first time, something changed.
The energy began to contract.
Levis' eyes lit up.
Without hesitation, he pushed further, forcing the Phoenix power inward, compressing it, guiding it—
Driving it back into Jean Grey's body.
