Today their meeting was very unusual. Ray and Cassie met alone. From a somewhat arrogant beauty, the girl had turned into a cowering mouse afraid of every rustle.
While she looked at Ray with fear, he took out a laptop, played a video, and turned it to her. On the screen was a recording of Tyler masturbating while she was being gang-raped.
"Honestly, I even feel sorry for you. Your father knew perfectly well what your grandfather was doing to you. He not only didn't stop him — he was the one who sold you. If you hadn't taken what was most precious from me, we could have gotten along quite well. But we both know I can't forgive you. You know, I thought revenge would bring me some peace, but it doesn't. What brings me peace is the awareness that the people who took my family from me aren't living peacefully as if nothing happened. I broke you, but the truth is, it no longer matters. You're still in pain, but Tyler even enjoys it."
"If you want to know whether I regret what I did, my answer is yes," Cassie said with a bitter smile, and added: "Now the only way you can make my life worse is to torture my daughter right in front of me."
Sobbing, she continued:
"The man I was willing to do anything for is gone. But I still love my daughter. If she had been born a little earlier, my life could have been brighter. But we both know you won't do that."
"You're right, I won't. Honestly, your father and brother disgust me more than you do. That doesn't excuse you, but you're just a crazy bitch. The attack on my house was your brother and father's idea, wasn't it? Don't you find it ironic that the couple who killed my children wanted my daughter to be the surrogate mother of their child?"
"Why are you telling me this? Even if I regret it, we both know what's done can't be undone."
"I want to give you a gift. Your father is still here. You can do whatever you want with him. You have a month. After that, I'll kill you," the man said calmly.
When Cassie heard his calm words, her eyes seemed to lose all light, but then they lit up again, and she said sincerely:
"Thank you. And please, put me in a different cell. I don't want to see him anymore."
For Cassie, her brother had been her savior, and for him she had been willing to do anything, even endure torture and humiliation. But seeing him enjoy her suffering, she broke.
When he ended up on the other side of the glass, she thought about how she would kill everyone who had abused him. While he enjoyed it — even if it was a defense mechanism of his psyche — for Cassie, it wasn't an excuse.
Finding herself in the same room as her father, she enjoyed her last month.
By the end of that time, Cassie had had a good time with dear old dad, turning him into a lifeless piece of meat.
When she met Ray again, the girl said in a pleading voice:
"Let my brother go. It's all my fault; I made him this way."
"You've misunderstood something. I understand you and even sympathize, but that doesn't mean I'll forgive you. I trusted your brother as I trusted myself and gave him compromising material on your father. I thought he was a worthy person and would use it correctly. Instead, they attacked my house. I thought it would get easier when I turned your lives into hell. At first, it did, but now you're both too pathetic. The torture that was supposed to be the most horrific experience for Tyler began to excite him, and you just don't care anymore. The truth is, it's all lost its meaning. But I still have close people, so I can't let you go, not to mention I'll never forget what you both did. If you continue living as if nothing happened, I won't be able to sleep peacefully even in my grave."
Having said that, Ray drew his gun and shot her in the head.
