Chapter 1 - The Shadow Of London

The night in London was unusually quiet, almost unnaturally so. Fog rolled through the narrow streets, blurring the streetlights into dim halos. In a high-rise apartment in East London, three people lay dead. Their bodies were arranged as if someone had carefully positioned them. No blood. No weapons. No signs of struggle—only the eerie silence of death.

The police were baffled. After hours of investigation, their only conclusion was to file it as "probable suicide." But anyone who looked closer could tell this was no ordinary death.

An army doctor, Dr. Alexander, arrived in the city. His mission was to observe unusual cases and report back. He quickly realized that one of his new patients needed a roommate. That roommate was Murphy Lawden.

Dr. Alexander studied Murphy with cautious curiosity. "Do you really think you can see what's behind all these strange deaths?"

Murphy replied calmly, "First, I need to understand why the police can't solve it. Everything here… is too strange."

Together they reviewed the reports of the three murders. Murphy's eyes scanned every detail. "There's a pattern," he said quietly. "Someone wants everyone confused, blinded by the details."

Dr. Alexander shook his head. "But Murphy… can anyone really plan something like this?"

Murphy gave a faint, knowing smile. "Only one… someone who doesn't want anyone to know the truth. But I will see through it. Every piece of information casts its own shadow."

He analyzed the peculiarities of the three murders. The victims' positions were unnatural. There were no weapons, yet subtle marks suggested harm. Connections in the city between the victims were deliberately disrupted.

"You're seeing it… like a game," Dr. Alexander said, astonished.

"We won't just observe," Murphy said. "We'll finish this. Whoever did this… they will be found."

Later, as they walked through the dimly lit streets of East London to visit the second crime scene, a sudden movement caught Murphy's eye. A figure emerged from the shadows. Pale, almost ethereal, with eyes that glimmered like shards of glass. Anafabula.

"You're in my city now," she whispered, her voice soft yet cutting through the fog. "Curious… dangerous… and yet… insignificant."

Murphy didn't flinch. "I'm not here to play by your rules. I'm here to stop whatever this is."

Anafabula tilted her head, smiling faintly. "We'll see." Then she vanished into the night.

"Who… what was that?" Alexander whispered.

Murphy didn't answer. His mind was already analyzing her presence, her intentions. "Someone is pulling the strings, Alexander. And she's a part of it."

Back at their apartment, Murphy spread out maps, photos, and notes across the table. He traced lines connecting the victims, the locations, even the times of death. "Look," he said, pointing to the intersecting lines. "It's a pattern. Someone wants to create the illusion of randomness, but everything is deliberate."

Alexander leaned over. "So… you're saying the police are looking at this backwards?"

"Exactly," Murphy nodded. "They called it suicide because it's easier than thinking about something impossible. But the killer—No… the entity behind this—is testing the city, testing us."

He paused. "And the person—or force—behind this isn't human in the traditional sense. It's calculating, patient, and invisible."

"Invisible?" Alexander asked.

"Not invisible… untouchable. But not unstoppable. That's why we're here."

The night deepened over London. Fog coiled around street lamps like silent sentinels. Somewhere in the distance, Anafabula watched, and in the corners of reality, a presence that could only be called Nobody lingered, shaping events unseen.

Murphy Lawden stood by the window, staring at the city. "This is only the beginning. They'll try to confuse us, scare us… but we'll see through it. And we'll find them."

Alexander, standing beside him, whispered, "You really believe we can stop this?"

Murphy's faint smile didn't waver. "We don't just stop it. We solve it. And when we do… London will know what real fear is—and who controls it."

The first thread of the mystery had been grasped, though the shadows were far from giving up their secrets.
