Chapter 3 - 3) Worth the wait ?

Raven was not someone who was super intelligent or could be defined as being atheletic. He was not an artist unlike many would suspect. Although his grades in college weren't bad, they weren't anything to brag about either.

However that doesn't mean he didn't have his strong points.

He is a smart kid with a working rational brain on his neck, is geneuinely kind to those in needs and evil and nasty for those who act spoiled with ego bigger than planet itself.

It's just that he was never interested in these things . He did things for the sake of it. Because that had to be done and couldn't be skipped. Yet he did have some interest in arts and music and dancing and stuff, but that's beacause ....well because that's interesting for everybody. He tried to persue some of those things and build some genuine interst but couldn't and left halfway through.

It wasn't that he was a loser in life or anything. Far from that, he could have been a geneous if he was able to build some genuine interest in some things.

Still he had a stable income even after living a life of mediocrity and was living well.

If there was something he was geneunily interested in that would be fantasy stories and novels.

He could just somehow tell that if he were to be in one of those fantasy worlds, he would definetely give his all to live life to the best of his abilities.

And guess what, the time to test that has come!

............

After resting for about a week, the thing Raven was waiting for finallly happened.

Something new appeared .

It turned out he actually needed a lot of energy to actually fully digest and integrate that other soul in his own. His speculation was correct all along!

.............

It was the morning of the 7th day after Ravenk came in contact with that soul and started integrating it onto his own. It all happened in an instant. Suddenly a massive influx of memories started assulting Ravenk's mind while he was brushing his teeth. He stumbled and fell to the floor on his butt from shock and the pain that came with it. The amount of knowledge he was receiving every instant was too much for him to digest and that was making his head ache. The seconds felt like hours as they trickled by and the pain instead of decreasing just kept on increasing.

At one point, he even had the urge to just faint and relieve himself from this sufffering, but he still held on. Somewhere in his mind he had this feeling that if he lost his consciousness he would never wake up again. So he held on with all his willpower and endure the pain.

As for trying to see the memories, the thought didnt even crossed his mind. The only thought he had was to somehow stop this influx of knowledge.

It was too much of a burden for his small mortal brain. His head started pounding intensily. He even had this illusion that it was swelling continuously and would soon burst apart.

Just when Ravenk felt like he couldn't hold on anymore and was about to faint from this extreme pain and discomfort, the influx of memories stopped by itself. Maybe his prayers were answered.

As he stopped receiving more memories, Ravenk suddenly felt extremely euphoric. He felt like his entire being was immersed in warm water after experiencing extreme cold. As if he had just drank cold water and eaten delicious food after being starved and thirsty for a whole week. The sensation was just too good to describe, so much so that after just experiencing that pain and agony due to memory ingestion, and then suddenly felling this comfortabel, Raven directly fainted and went into a deep sleep.

..............

Time slowly passed and by now, the sky outside had a faint tinge of red mixed with orange and blue with weak sunlight cascading all over. It was the kind which felt gentle on the skin and where you would want to just stay and bask in the evening glow for as long as possible.

In the city of fortune, inside a room whose windows were open and the curtains drawn halway through, a young man was sleeping peacefully with a blissful sime on his face. Looking at his sleeping smiling face, anyone could tell that he was having a good dream. The rays of the evening sun passing through the half drawn curtains fell on the man's face now and then as the curtains waved with the wind itself.

Slowly, the man's eyelids fluttered and then fully opened.

The man's eyes were galzed at first and filled with confusion, but as the memories of what happend earlier that day came back, he couldn't help but wince in pain and terror again. The pain and disconfort he felt earlier was still vivid in his mind and might take a while to be forgotten.

However, along with this came uncontrollable joy and euphoria.

Because what Raven was waiting for the whole week finally happened. At last, he had completely absorbed that soul of that expert and gained unimaginable benefits. Although he wasn't sure what those benefits are yet.

But still! Anything from someone of that caliber, who could traverse space even with just a fragment of his soul is sure to be subsatancial and destiny changing, right?

What was this little pain and discomfort he had to endure in front of such fortune!

............

It's almost been an hour since Raven woke up. All this time he has been trying to undersand the benefits he has received from merging with another soul.

At first, he tried testing his physical abilities to see if he has become some sort of superhuman with massive strength and speed. But Alas!

Nothing sort of that happened. He's still.....he. Still the same normal human. But he was not disappointed because of that.

Because he tried again and found out that instead of gaining supernaturtal abilities, he has something even more better.

Khowledge!

Almost infinite and accurate Knowledge!

His brain is also several times faster than before and he's super clear headed. All the brain fog he used to experience is no more and he can even remember the smallest of details from years ago almost instantaneously.

If one were to think about it, it's actually natural to have these changes. After all, what Raven absorbed was not some kind of energy but a soul itself. The energy was taken by the planet itself. Oterwise he would have been the one to be posseseed and absorbed by that space soul.

And since Raven aborbed soul, what improved was his soul. It's just that he's still a normal mortal human and can't understand the intricacies of soul and the benefits he has received. Though he will surely discover that later on.

As for the knowledge he received? Even Raven himself is not sure about that. Because its just too much even for his now enhanced and improved brain to handle. He however has this feeling that whatever he want's to know about, he can with just a thought.

After that Raven spent a couple of more hours uncovering the secrets of his power up.

And the result was worthwhile the wait!
