Chapter 5 - [5] "What He Truly Wanted"

The drive-in screen flickered softly in the distance while the parking lot slowly filled with cars.

Inside the car, Sir Will leaned back in his seat and casually pointed toward the back.

"Supplies," he said.

Noah turned and blinked. Behind him sat a neat pile of snacks—chips, popcorn, drinks. He hadn't even noticed because his mind and heart kept racing to the man next to him.

For a second he just stared. Overwhelmed by choice and also emotion.

When Noah had imagined a date… he hadn't really imagined anything at all. Certainly not this.

"You… prepared all this?" he asked. Looking back at times where he had to plan dates but he always couldn't figure it out. His ex never really appreciated the plans he made, belittling his gestures, well he was jsut a uni student, what did she expect? Fine dining on a cruise? [Yeah...]

Sir Will shrugged lightly. "Movie without snacks feels illegal." Noah snaps back to reality and current. What a nice feeling it was not having to worry about these things for once. I guess I'll enjoy some bit. Lays for sure!!

Noah laughed under his breath and reached back, grabbing the bag of chips he liked. The second it was open he started eating, shoving a few pieces into his mouth before the movie even started.

He didn't realize he was doing it.

Nervous bingeing. Not one bag of chip, 2 and three chip more packets.

Sir Will watched him from the corner of his eye, completely stunned.

The speed at which Noah demolished the chips was honestly impressive.

"Maybe I should've taken you to dinner first," Will said slowly. "If you were that hungry."

Noah froze mid-chew. Self-realisation hit.

"Oh—! No, no. I'm not hungry hungry," he said quickly. "I just… really like to -snack, haha."

There was then quietness that settled over the car. Because both were so conscious of the situation right now, even the "cool-man" Sir Will was way too nervous for his own good. Holding back any desire to just lean in any closer.

They both glanced at each other.

Blink.

Look away.

Blink again.

Inside Noah's head was chaos. What should I do?!! I'm not gay!! Or am I? Please!! Just let this end well and fast!!

Beside him, Sir Will had his own silent struggle. We do have to give it to hime, man's been celibate for almost a year, since his last ex. The shittiest ex. And there sat next to him, in comparison, an angel almost. Like a newly bought figurine still fresh in it's crisp new box. He does not want to force him out of the box. Never against his will. He truly appreciates him. The handsome figure next to him, was also a reflection of who he'd wish was there at his hardest times. Would have made his heart heal faster from last year. With those killer thighs too. Avert eyes!! Look Away!! I'm not the strongest soldier!!

He didn't know if he should talk more. He might blurt the wrong thing. [Them thighs, goddamit]

But he was worried if he stayed too quiet, the night would go on feeling so suffocating under all the awkwardness.

He gave up thinking, with Noah at the corner of his eye, his concentration sat there, while he pretended he was attentively watching the movie he felt bored out of his mind watching.

And somehow the hours felt like every second was being counted. [I bet the thousand things Sir Will would have liked to do in that time]

Noah barely remembered a single scene.

His brain was too busy being aware of the man sitting beside him.

The faint scent of his cologne. The cigarette smell had faded. And so the smell was mixed with Sir Will's own body scent. Why was that even more attractive to Noah? [Whipped aren't we, heh!]

The way their elbows almost brushed when they reached for snacks.

The way Sir Will sometimes shifted slightly closer without realising.

When the credits finally rolled, both of them felt the same quiet relief.

The tension dissolved like someone had finally opened a window.

Sir Will cleared his throat.

"Ready to head back?"

Noah nodded immediately.

"Yeah."

The ride home was strangely lighter.

The pressure of "this is a date" had faded.

Now it almost felt like… just hanging out again.

Will drove calmly while Noah watched the city lights slide past the window.

Both of them had come to the same quiet conclusion.

Maybe they were better as friends. Lies!

The car stopped at a red light.

Sir Will spoke casually.

"Did you enjoy the movie?"

Noah's brain short-circuited.

Movie?

He didn't remember a single scene.

Panic mode activated. How was he gonna lie his way out of this?

For half a second he considered pretending to be asleep.

And then he actually tried it.

Noah leaned his head back and closed his eyes.

Sir Will turned his head slightly and looked at him.

A scoff escaped him.

The light was still red.

Perfect timing.

"Well," Sir Will said slowly, leaning a little closer, "since you're pretending to sleep… it gives me the perfect chance to kiss you."

Noah shot upright so fast he nearly hit the roof. [At least he tried]

"YUP! The movie was fun!"

Sir Will burst out laughing.

"Really?" he said. "Because honestly, I thought it was pretty boring."

"Oh," Noah replied weakly.

Sir Will shrugged slightly as he turned back to the road.

"Probably why I couldn't concentrate."

Noah glanced at him.

"What distracted you?"

Sir Will's lips curved faintly.

"Well," he said lightly, "there's this guy I'm on a date with. I think it might be him."

He shot Noah a teasing look.

Noah forgot how to speak.

Something warm twisted in his stomach.

"Honestly," Noah said after a moment, trying to recover, "it kinda felt more like hanging out with a friend than a date."

Sir Will thought about that for a second.

Then he said quietly,

"As long as you know what you want."

The words lingered.

What I want?

Noah stared out the window again.

What do I want?

What does Sir Will want?

Does Sir Will even like me?

Was I just hoping he would?

…hoping.. he would..?

The thought startled him.

Before he could stop himself, he asked,

"What do you want then?"

Sir Will glanced at him.

"Me?"

He hesitated.

"…Nothing."

Noah's stomach dropped.

Nothing?

Then what was tonight?

Noah's mind stayed restless the whole ride left.

Sir Will noticed the shift immediately but didn't push and just simply drove.

When they reached Noah's place, he pulled over.

"See you around," Will said.

And that was that.

Monday came.

Noah almost skipped work.

But he forced himself to go.

He sat at the front desk pretending to scroll through his phone, though his eyes kept drifting toward the studio.

Sir Will was teaching.

Noah watched him move across the floor, effortlessly guiding the class.

He hated how naturally his eyes followed him.

By the time the last class ended, the studio was quiet again.

Sir Will was sprawled across the dance floor, his favourite routine at this point, one arm under his head while he scrolled through his phone.

Noah walked over.

"Why are you lying on the floor?" he asked. "There's literally a sofa right there." he knew the question was ridiculous because he of all people know what it feels like to lie on that cold floor after a long day of dancing. A weirdly refreshing feeling that calms his cells slowly and gracefully, he had fallen asleep right after dance practice like that so many times. But hey, whatever to let him talk to Sir Will and get whatever's on his mind off his chest. [Poor boy wants him]

Sir Will didn't even look up.

"This is better."

He patted the floor beside him.

"It's comfortable."

"I know," Noah replied sharply, sitting down anyway.

Sir Will sat up slightly to look at him.

Noah didn't waste time. Furious with the previous answer.

"Why did you go on a date with me if you didn't want anything?"

Sir Will blinked once. A sigh escapes, not from exhaustion but hope that this doesn't lead to anything hurtful to him and the boy in front of him. He concerns himself of Noah too much now. He and thought Noah would brush the situation voer to pretend and move on to act as friends again. But he forgot. Noah wasn't like him. He was much braver than him. He truly admires that part of him.

He hadn't expected the question but he worked up his own courage to face the boy properly.

"Do you want the truth," he asked calmly, "or something that keeps things simple?"

"The truth."

Sir Will studied him for a moment. with the clarification, he has no choice;

"I know what I'm into. But this—" he gestured between them "—is new for you."

Noah stayed silent.

"So I figured," Sir Will continued, "just a date with you should be enough. No pressure on you. No expectations for me to get my hopes any high and hurt."

Noah stared at him.

He had expected a hundred different answers.

Not that.

"I never asked you to be careful with my feelings," Noah muttered.

"I just asked what you wanted."

Sir Will's eyebrow lifted. A sad puppy eyed burned a hole into Sir Will's heart. The fuck is with him?

"What I want?" Sir Will knew a thousand things he wanted but even he felt overwhelmed by them.

Without warning, he shifted closer and rested his head in Noah's lap.

Noah nearly short-circuited. "What the—?!" Is he supposed to be like this? I feel like he's cuter than me and I'm younger than him

"I want a nap," Sir Will said lazily. He also wishes to pace himself or else, he'd not be ready for anything. [In truth he just wants to eat him up]

Noah froze. With the still "sleeping" hottie in his lap.

Completely still.

Sir Will's head rested against his thigh. Fuck!

Warm.

Heavy.

Real.

Erotic.

Minutes passed.

Slowly, Noah looked down.

He studied Sir Will's face quietly.

His hair.

His eyebrows.

The curve of his nose.

The relaxed shape of his lips.

His collarbones are peaking out of the shirt because of how prominent they are, it's so seductive in his mind.

Something warm fluttered in Noah's chest. [and places :)]

Almost without thinking, his fingers moved.

They slipped gently into Will's hair.

Soft.

He brushed through it carefully.

Never thought I'd like someone with hair this short, Noah thought.

What Noah didn't know…

Was that Sir Will was absolutely not asleep. [Still thinking about the thighs, aight]

The moment Noah touched his hair, Sir Will's heart nearly exploded.

He kept his eyes closed, refusing to move.

If he opened them, Noah might stop.

But curiosity eventually won. Sir Will slowly and carefully fluttered his eyes open to take in the breathtaking visuals of this hottie he had been crushing on and is now lying in his lap. What a win!

Noah immediately stopped.

Silence filled the room.

Their eyes locked.

Sir Will sat up slowly. Eyes slitted softly and sharply into the nervous soul in front of him.

And for a moment neither of them spoke.

His gaze dropped briefly to Noah's lips. And then, back to the eyes. Both hearts pounding loud and clear in the quiet studio. Message clearer than day Noah's insides were in a twist so wonderfully woven by the curious glimmer of Sir Will's gaze at his lips. One nod is all it took, with his eyes closed tightly out of preparation, nervous, Sir Will chuckled softly at the sight. Leaned forward. A soft kiss where just there lips pressed slightly and Sir Will pulled back. It was a soft, careful kiss.

A test. As Noah's breath stopped for a second when Will pulled back, Noah opened his eyes.

"This," Sir Will said quietly,

"…is what I wanted."

He leans into Noah without anymore warning, Slow to fast. He cups the back of Noah's head with his hands pulling him closer, licking the lips of the now also hungry hottie, drunk on the kiss, the heavier, faster, sloshier, tongues intertwine every millisecond. Sucking on each others' lips. When pulling back for a breath Sir Will adjusts, kneeling, keeping his body slightly taller than Noah, still seated, Sir Will wraps his arm around his neck, and Noah's hands fit in perfectly at the hips propping Sir Will closer, to his body, space; is nonexistent, as sounds and moans slip out Sir Will's mouth in murmurs, his breath hitched at the back of his throat as Noah leads kisses down his neck, and his target the beautiful collarbone, the masterpiece, he wanted to claim, sucked and bit maybe a few too many spots.

CLICK,BANG!!

Both of them froze.

They snapped their heads toward the studio door.

Silence.

No one came in.

They stared for another moment before bursting into quiet, nervous laughter.

"Okay," Noah said breathlessly. "Jumpscare." "I guess that's our cue"

They stood up and turned off the lights, both trying to act normal.

Neither succeeded.

By the time they reached the door, Noah was smiling like an idiot. Had that been the best kiss in Noah's life? [Yes.]

Sir Will only had that familiar small smirk. As they stepped outside, Sir Will casually slipped his fingers between Noah's.

Noah was startled then squeezed back.

The car ride was quiet in a fluttering way. Calm and [satisfied? hehe]

But this time their hands stayed intertwined the whole way.

When they reached Noah's building, he didn't immediately get out.

He looked at Sir Will.

"So… you like me, don't you?" Noah teased.

Sir Will rubbed his thumb over Noah's knuckles slowly.

"If you stay any longer," he said calmly, "your parents won't see you tonight."

Noah panicked instantly. His heart was already about to explode.

"Okay bye!" Noah's response is quick as he fleeted out of the car and practically ran inside.

Once in his room, he collapsed onto his bed.

And replayed the kiss. A million times.

Meanwhile, Sir Will drove home with the same memory playing in his head. Should I have just brought him back anyways.

A satisfied smirk slowly spreading across his face. Oh, well, he's mine now.
