Chapter 2 - I Find A Savior

Maya quickly recognized him to be one of Tamara's servant boy. She sent some men to even steal from her after they kicked her out? Maya would not allow this, so she grabbed both bags and started to run as fast as she could.

She didn't know where she was going to. It was dark and late and she was even still so tired from all the running she'd done ealier. She sighted a figure in front, and heard a cruel laughter. "W-who is there?" Maya called out. Those thugs were still behind her and would not leave. Until...

The figure turned out to be an old woman in an orange tattered robe. She was a little too fast despite the fact you could see all her hair had turned white. She threw her leg in the air and it met with someone's face in a sharp kick. Another one rushed forward to meet her but she held his hand, and next thing Maya knew, the man was seen flying in mid air.

"It's just a poor old lady. Don't let yourself be fooled!" Said Tamara's boy servant, but the two men on the floor were too weak to even open their mouth.

"It's just two of you left. If you get injured, who's going to carry you boys back home?" Maya teased.

The old woman glared at Maya from head to toe, then said, "come with me. You'll be safe in my house."

Maya did not want to trust this woman. For all she cared, she might have been a witch!

"I will be back for you." Said the thug,"come on, carry him, I'll carry this one."

"Yea that's right, scurry off!" Maya yelled as they ran in shame. She took one look on the old woman again, "well, you saved me from these thugs. And I really need a place to stay for the night."

"Amazing!" The woman cackled. "Follow me," she led Maya to an apartment just at the other side of the road. Maya was just tired and needed to crash. Once inside, the old woman threw broom and parker to Maya. "Go clean the basement!"

Maya did not hear her well. "What?"

The woman sighed, "okay fine. You can clean tomorrow. But fetch me something from my basement. Quick, take a torch." She handed her a bright flashlight.

Maya swallowed. She was living with a lunatic. She asked for directions. "Okay so..." Maya wanted to ask a quick question and turned but the woman was no longer there. "Hello? Old woman?" No response.

She kept on going. The entire house was old and mostly empty. When she stepped into the basement, she noticed a heavy iron door, old rusted hinges and some strange carvings on it.

"Hmm. What kind of door is this one?" Maya frowned. "I bet it's antique nonsense." Maya ignored and kept looking for what the old woman asked her to bring.

"Fetch me a green stone. It's just beside this old rusty door." The woman had said.

"Oh, this door?" Maya turned back to the antique door and turned the flashlight everywhere around it but found nothing. "You have gone through so many crazy shit today, Maya. Now it's mission impossible for this old crazy lady?"

She paused,"what if it's on the other end? Where would this door even lead to, outside?" She advanced forward as she to open it.

Cold wind blow from the other side, stronger than what she'd experienced outside.

When the door opened fully, Maya noticed a stone courtyard, some torches burning...and soldiers in armor?

"Uh oh. This doesn't lead to another room." She thought to herself.

One of them instantly pointed a sword at her "Witch!" he shouted.

Maya was screaming out loud on the inside. She was about to turn and run when the door slammed shut behind her.

You're still here?

Good. That means the basement door hasn't scared you away... yet...

Just a small reminder: some doors are closed for a reason. And the deeper we go into this story, the stranger things might become. Secrets, magic, and a few dangerous surprises are waiting on the other side.

If you're curious enough to keep turning the pages, I'll keep opening the door for you.
