Chapter 1 - Chapter One

The Mystery of the Invisible Force

Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, a secluded bungalow nestled in a hilly forest. Its name—' Shayani-Nid'. Roman is a young journalist by profession. He has an insatiable interest in all sorts of mysterious and spine-chilling stories he hears from people. He has also heard many strange tales about this bungalow. Some say that strange lights are seen here at night, while others claim to hear unfamiliar melodies drifting on the wind. So, to unravel this mystery, he has come here on a week's holiday.

The first few days passed quite normally. The surrounding nature was captivating by day. But as soon as night fell, the atmosphere of the bungalow seemed to change. Sitting in the large drawing room, working on his laptop, Roman felt a sense of unease. It was as if someone was watching him from the shadows. Yet there was no one around.

On the fourth night, it happened. Roman was fast asleep when he suddenly felt as if someone was gently pulling back his duvet. He sat bolt upright. Switching on his torch, he saw the room was completely empty, and the doors and windows were all locked from the inside. Had he imagined it, then? As he lay back down, he heard a faint flute-like sound. It seemed to be coming from the library in the bungalow.

Gathering his courage, Roman made his way towards the library. The door opened at a gentle push. The library was quite old, with the smell of countless books. As he swept his torch beam across the bookshelves, his eyes fell upon the far corner of the room. There, an old, heavy wooden chair was sitting. To Roman's astonishment, the chair was rocking! As if someone had just got up from it.

Although Roman was a little unnerved, his journalistic instincts took over. He noticed that one of the walls in the library was slightly different. A large painting hung there—a picture of an ancient fortress. When he removed the painting, he found a small, iron-bound key.

The next morning, he spoke to the locals, asking about the bungalow's previous owner. They told him the bungalow once belonged to a zamindar who practised various tantric rituals and the study of mystical powers. It was said that he had hidden a priceless object in the bungalow, one he was willing to protect even at the cost of his own life.

It was a night of the new moon. He went into the Roman library, inserted the key and, after a great deal of searching, found a hidden chest. As soon as he opened the chest, a brilliant blue light emanated from within. Inside was an ancient palm-leaf manuscript and a strange stone. The moment Roman took the stone in his hand, he felt a powerful vibration. He felt as if some unseen force was trying to tell him something written in the manuscript.

Roman picked up the manuscript. Although the letters written within were unfamiliar to him, he felt an unknown sensation stir within. It felt as though this unseen power was bestowing upon him a special responsibility. This power was not some malevolent force, but rather an ancient key to protecting nature itself.

From that night on, Roman understood that the mystery of 'Shadow Nest' was not one of ghosts or fear, but of the presence of a primal and unseen force. And the responsibility of protecting this power now rested upon him. He decided he would not reveal this mystery to the world, but would instead keep the force safe in its rightful place. Every day since, Roman has sat in that library room, feeling the presence of the mysterious power, and a tranquil flute melody drifts into his ears.
