Chapter 19 - Symbol of Forever

It was a crisp Saturday morning. The sun had just begun to peek over the horizon, turning the sky into a canvas of pink and gold.

I had no idea what he was planning. He had asked me to meet him at the campus garden, a place we had discovered together early in the year a quiet spot where we laughed, shared dreams, and found peace amidst the chaos of university life.

When I arrived, the garden was empty except for him, standing near the fountain, holding something small in his hand. My heart skipped.

He smiled, that warm, steady smile I had fallen in love with. "You're here," he said softly, and it felt like the words carried all the weight of the journey we had been on together.

I nodded, unsure what to say. "Of course."

He took my hands in his, the way he always did, grounding me, steadying me, making me feel safe in a way no one else ever had.

"Amanda," he began, his voice low, deliberate, full of emotion. "I've watched you grow over the past months. I've seen your strength, your kindness, your faith, and your peace. And I've fallen in love with every part of you."

My chest tightened. I could feel tears threatening, but I held them back, wanting to be fully present in this moment.

"I know we've faced challenges," he continued, "moments that tested us, moments that could have broken us. But through it all, we've learned, we've grown… together. And I can't imagine my life without you in it."

He knelt down on one knee, holding out a small velvet box. My breath caught.

"," he said, voice steady but full of love, "will you marry me? Will you let me walk beside you through every storm, every calm, every moment of life? Will you be my peace, my partner, my forever?"

Tears spilled freely now, warmth flooding my chest, my heart feeling like it could burst. I looked at him, at the love and sincerity shining in his eyes, and I knew the answer before I spoke it.

"Yes," I whispered, voice trembling. "Yes, a thousand times yes."

He smiled, slipping the ring onto my finger. It was simple, elegant, perfect not flashy, not demanding attention, but meaningful. A symbol of everything we had built together: trust, love, patience, and peace.

We embraced, holding each other tightly, letting the world fall away.

In that embrace, I felt the full circle of my journey:

The girl who had chased perfection and carried storms inside her chest. The girl who had found forgiveness, peace, and self-love.The girl who had learned to grow, to trust, and to love fully.

And now, she was stepping into a future with someone who complemented her calm, shared her values, and loved her authentically.

We stayed there, wrapped in each other, the garden bathed in golden light. For the first time, I didn't feel like I had to chase anything.

Not perfection.Not validation.Not love.

I had it all.

Peace.Faith.Love.

And a forever, in his arms.
