Chapter 12 - The Safe House

An unfamiliar ceiling.

A soft sensation spread beneath him as the figure lying on the bed slowly opened his eyes.

After watching the sun rise in the Demon Slayer world, Mo Wu—completely naked—had lost all five senses the moment the mission settlement ended.

Now that his consciousness had returned, the first thing he saw was the unfamiliar ceiling above him.

Thankfully… they didn't teleport me into a crowd.

Otherwise, showing up naked like that would've been way too embarrassing…

Just imagining the scene made Mo Wu curl his toes instinctively. Even his heart, long since numbed by killing demons, heated with embarrassment.

Shaking himself free from that awkward fantasy, Mo Wu cautiously scanned his surroundings.

The room was warmly furnished. The walls were simple but decorated with faint floral patterns. A few basic pieces of furniture were arranged neatly, and the large bed beneath him occupied the center of the room.

The only strange thing was that there were no windows.

Yet the entire space was filled with soft light.

The light seemed to seep in from every direction. There was no obvious source, but it illuminated the room perfectly, leaving every corner bright and clear.

Aside from that…

It looked no different from an ordinary room.

Mo Wu frowned slightly.

For some reason, the light made him feel at ease, as though some invisible force were quietly protecting the room.

This must be the so-called safe house.

This Infinite Paradise is surprisingly considerate.

A faint sense of goodwill rose in his heart. For a brief moment, Mo Wu even felt like living here forever wouldn't be so bad.

Smack!

Mo Wu immediately slapped himself across the face.

"What is this? Stockholm syndrome?"

Rubbing his slightly reddened cheek, Mo Wu forced out a bitter smile.

Was he really starting to feel fond of this damn place?

"Status panel."

"Gulp…"

Mo Wu swallowed hard as he stared at the words Transparent World in the skill list.

Transparent World

A state reached only after exhausting struggle and enduring extreme pain, where the mind becomes transparent enough to perceive the world itself.

In this state, by concentrating and shutting down unnecessary senses, living beings appear almost transparent. Movement speed, prediction of attacks, and evasion ability are all greatly enhanced. The flow of blood through an opponent's lungs and vessels becomes visible, and one's own muscle contractions can be precisely controlled. Even breathing itself can be freely regulated.

Because of heightened perception, enemy movements will appear slowed.

Struggle with everything… endure pain…

The agony of having his body severed in half while still forcing out a final strike felt as vivid as if it had happened moments ago.

"Kokushibo…"

One day, I will return and kill you.

Mo Wu drew the Nichirin Blade and held it upright before his eyes.

A surge of heat rushed toward his brain, as though flames had ignited behind his pupils.

And then—

Looking at his right hand gripping the blade, Mo Wu suddenly saw his skin becoming faintly transparent.

The yellowish surface gradually faded until the blood vessels, muscles, and nerves beneath were clearly visible.

"Hiss—"

He sucked in a breath.

His vision blurred for a moment, and his hand returned to normal.

But Mo Wu faintly felt something running from his eyes.

Damn…

Remembering the tragic fate of certain eye techniques used by a certain infamous clan, Mo Wu's heart skipped a beat.

He quickly wiped the liquid away and held it up before his eyes.

Only after seeing it clearly did he finally relax.

Luckily… just tears.

Wait… speaking of eyes…

Didn't I get a new talent related to them?

Eyes Bathed in Dawn

Eyes obtained only after witnessing the first ray of sunlight while standing on the boundary between life and death.

Those who meet this gaze will feel overwhelming pressure, as though scorched by the sun.

…Sounds impressive, but hard to understand.

Mo Wu examined his reflection in the bright surface of the Nichirin Blade.

Left. Right.

No matter how he looked, his pupils appeared completely normal.

Forget it.

I'll figure it out eventually.

After all, this next thing is the most important.

Mo Wu's expression turned serious as his gaze locked onto the only item in the inventory.

Dream Notebook (Unlocked)

Write down your dream. Spend Dream Points, and any dream can be realized.

"New Dreamer, use it to fulfill all your dreams!"

"Congratulations! You have obtained the Dream Notebook!"

Recalling the passionate announcement he heard during the mission settlement, Mo Wu couldn't help feeling curious.

What kind of item could deserve such praise?

It can fulfill any dream?

While pondering this, Mo Wu suddenly felt a chill in his chest, as though something had fallen out.

Thud.

A heavy object hit the floor.

Startled, Mo Wu quickly lowered his head.

"This… is the Dream Notebook?"

A plain black notebook lay on the ground.

Mo Wu swallowed nervously before bending down to pick it up.

"Make me invincible."

Dream Points insufficient.

"Let me leave Paradise."

Dream Points insufficient.

Mo Wu watched as the words he had written slowly vanished after the notebook returned the answer.

Thoughtfully, he wrote another line.

"Double my Dream Points."

Dream Points: 1200

Seeing that the sentence did not disappear, Mo Wu began to understand.

It seemed that fulfilling dreams required a corresponding cost.

Hmm…

"Raise Sun Breathing to Yoriichi Tsugikuni's level."

Dream Points: 2000

Then…

"Raise Sun Breathing to its maximum limit."

Dream Points: 5000

Seeing those words, Mo Wu's eyes lit up.

So it could be used like this.

But…

Even Yoriichi Tsugikuni hadn't reached the ultimate limit of Sun Breathing?

After thinking for a moment, Mo Wu wrote another sentence.

"Obtain 1000 Paradise Points."

Cost: 100 Dream Points.

So they can be exchanged for each other.

Paradise Points were what he had received after being rated A during mission settlement.

If his guess was correct, this was probably the main currency used inside Paradise.

But how exactly it was used…

He had no idea.

There's still too little information…

Why couldn't this Infinite Paradise assign a guide for newcomers?

Sighing, Mo Wu stared at the notebook, wondering whether to spend Dream Points in exchange for information.

Trying to figure everything out by himself was simply too slow.

"Hm?"

Suddenly thinking of something, Mo Wu glanced toward the tightly closed door in the distance and licked his lips.

"A set of clothes."

Cost: 1 Dream Point.

He casually checked the sentence.

Immediately, his Dream Point balance decreased by one.

Then—

A new item suddenly appeared in his equipment list.

And with a soft thud, a crimson set of casual clothing dropped from the ceiling.

Mo Wu quickly dressed, secured the Nichirin Blade at his waist, and walked toward the sealed door.

His expression turned serious.

Beyond that door lay the unknown.

But sooner or later, he would have to face it.

With that thought in mind, Mo Wu slowly placed his hand on the handle.

Then he pushed.

Click.

The tightly shut door opened slightly, and blinding white light instantly flooded his vision.

When he opened his eyes again—

He saw an endless galaxy hanging across the sky above.

"How many worlds have you experienced?"

A hoarse voice suddenly sounded beside his ear.

Mo Wu, who had been lost in the beauty of the star-filled sky, was startled awake.

His hand shot toward the hilt of his Nichirin Blade, ready to draw it.

But before he could move, a hand landed on his right shoulder.

In that instant, all the strength in his body vanished.

Mo Wu began sweating immediately.
