Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – The Hidden Fortress

After the war, I let Roosevelt stay in politics. He would continue cleaning up the remnants of the global conflict, managing the government, and consolidating America's new position in the world. His success was important—but it wasn't my concern anymore.

I had other plans.

With years of salary, government influence, and—let's be honest—some cleverly redirected funds from the treasury, I was wealthier than most mortals could even imagine. Money was convenient, but it was nothing compared to what I was about to do.

I left civilization entirely. Traveling through the vast wilderness of America, I hunted monsters, collected rare materials, and tested the limits of my powers. Each kill, each experiment, each new discovery sharpened both my skills and my resources. The world was full of things most mortals would never notice—or understand.

The real task, however, was finding a permanent home.

I didn't want a city; people would swarm there, curious and inconvenient. I didn't want to be in the open wilderness either—it left me exposed, even if very few dared approach a demigod of my caliber. I needed somewhere remote. Hidden. Perfectly secure.

Two years passed. I traveled coast to coast, scouting mountains, forests, valleys, and abandoned facilities. Most were either too exposed, too dangerous, or too inconvenient. But finally… I found it.

A mountain, large but unassuming, with natural caverns and space to house my entire operation. Monsters were scarce here, the terrain defensible, and the location remote enough that no mortal could stumble upon it by accident.

I drew the summoning scroll the God had given me, cutting my finger and letting a bead of blood drip onto the parchment. I performed the hand seals carefully, focusing my chakra and the intent of my mind.

The air shimmered. The ground trembled slightly. And suddenly… my lab appeared inside the mountain, exactly as I had imagined it.

Every detail was perfect.

An entire library filled with every ninja scroll I could remember, some enhanced with knowledge I had not yet mastered.

Advanced cloning vats, capable of replicating organisms or humans with surgical precision.

A medical wing rivaling any hospital, with technology and equipment far beyond mortal comprehension.

Laboratories for chemistry, biology, and physics, all integrated with future technology I already understood from memory.

Entire wings devoted to weapons, experiments, and other classified projects.

It wasn't just a lab. It was a fortress, a city of science, magic, and strategy hidden within the earth.

I walked through it, observing every corner. Some areas were mine from memory, exact replicas of what Orochimaru had known. Other areas… were better. Smarter. More advanced. The God had blessed this place with enhancements I didn't fully understand yet, but I knew they would only make my experiments faster and more precise.

This was it. My domain. My base. My sanctuary.

And if someone needed to find me? They wouldn't. Not unless I wanted them to.

I allowed myself a small, satisfied smile. The war was over. America was safe. The monsters and threats of the mortal world could be handled on my terms.

And here, in this hidden fortress, I could experiment, expand, and prepare for whatever came next.

Because this wasn't the end of my story.

It was just the beginning.
