The Two Sisters and the Witch's Blessing
A long time ago, in a small village, there lived a poor farmer. His name was Ramu. He was very hardworking, but his luck was not very good. His farm was small and the harvest was often poor, so his family lived a simple and difficult life.
Ramu had two daughters. The elder daughter's name was Sonali, and the younger daughter's name was Gauri.
Sonali was very beautiful. She had long hair, a fair face, and big bright eyes. Everyone in the village admired her beauty and often praised her.
On the other hand, Gauri had a simple face. People did not consider her beautiful. However, she had a very kind and gentle heart. She always helped others and spoke politely to everyone.
Sadly, people often cared more about outer beauty. Because of this, Sonali received more attention and praise, while Gauri was often ignored.

Gauri woke up early every morning and did all the household work.
She went to the river to fetch water, collected firewood, cooked food, and even helped her father in the fields.

The witch said,

Gauri herself was surprised.
The witch smiled and said,

When Gauri returned home, her father and the villagers could hardly recognize her.

Now when families came for marriage proposals, they were very impressed by Gauri's beauty and her kind nature.
Soon, a proposal came from a good and respectable family.
The young man's name was Rajan.
Rajan said,

Soon Gauri's marriage was arranged.
Sonali's Jealousy
Seeing all this, Sonali felt very jealous.
She thought,

She decided to find the witch and get the same blessing.

The next day, Sonali went into the forest looking for the witch.
After some time, she saw the same old woman.

Hearing this, the witch became serious.

Sonali was very frightened.
She realized her mistake.
Crying, she returned home and apologized to Gauri.
