Chapter 20 — The Gate of the Ten Chaos Lords
The battlefield of shattered universes faded into silence.
Where fragments of destroyed realities once floated, an enormous structure now stood in the endless void.
A gate.
It was so massive that entire galaxies could have passed through it like grains of dust. Ancient symbols covered its surface, glowing faintly with power older than existence itself.
At the center of the gate were ten empty thrones.
Each throne floated in a circle around the gate like silent rulers waiting for their kings.
Kael stared at them.
Even from a distance, he could feel the immense power surrounding those seats.
The voice of the Guardian of the First Library echoed once more.
"This is the Gate of Chaos Authority."
"Beyond it lies the deeper truth of the Chaos Void."
Kael slowly approached the thrones.
As he moved closer, he began to see strange symbols carved into each one.
The symbols represented Concept Paths.
The guardian spoke again.
"The Chaos Void does not have a single ruler."
"It has ten."
The thrones began to glow faintly.
One by one, the symbols revealed themselves.
Kael saw the concepts written into the fabric of the thrones.
Knowledge.
Time.
Devourer.
Game.
Destiny.
Probability.
Creation.
Destruction.
Order.
Chaos.
Each throne held the authority of a fundamental concept of existence.
The guardian continued.
"When the Chaos Void first formed…"
"Ten Concept Seeds appeared."
"Those who inherit them become the Chaos Lords."
Kael felt his heart beat faster.
His hand instinctively moved toward one of the thrones.
The Throne of Knowledge.
The moment his fingers touched it—
The entire void trembled.
Runes exploded into existence around Kael like galaxies forming in an instant.
The Chaos Wonder Artifact of Knowledge floated out of his hand, rising into the air.
The guardian spoke with deep surprise.
"Impossible…"
"The artifact recognizes the throne."
The artifact released a beam of light that connected directly to the throne.
A powerful voice echoed from the gate itself.
Not the guardian.
Something far older.
"Candidate detected."
"Concept Compatibility: Knowledge — Confirmed."
Kael suddenly saw countless visions.
He saw the past.
Ancient beings fighting for control of the Chaos Void.
He saw the first Chaos Lords shaping worlds with a thought.
He saw wars that destroyed entire dimensions.
And then…
He saw the thrones become empty.
The Chaos Lords had vanished.
The voice continued.
"The Chaos Lords disappeared long ago."
"The thrones now wait for new rulers."
Kael stepped back slightly.
"So the trial…"
The guardian finished his sentence.
"…is the selection of a new Chaos Lord."
Suddenly, the other thrones began to react.
The throne of Time glowed faintly.
The throne of Devourer released a dark aura.
The throne of Destiny shimmered like shifting futures.
The guardian spoke slowly.
"The Chaos Void has been silent for ages."
"But now…"
"The thrones have begun to awaken again."
Kael looked at the throne of Knowledge.
A strange feeling rose inside him.
Not greed.
Not ambition.
But curiosity.
He whispered quietly.
"So this is the true path."
The artifact responded gently.
"Yes."
"The Path of Knowledge does not only seek truth."
"It shapes existence itself."
But before Kael could approach the throne again—
The enormous gate suddenly cracked open.
A terrifying energy burst from the darkness beyond it.
The guardian's voice changed instantly.
"Impossible."
"The sealed realm is opening."
From the darkness behind the gate…
A massive shadow slowly began to move.
A voice older than universes whispered across the Chaos Void.
"So…"
"A new candidate has appeared."
The gate continued to open.
Something ancient…
Something powerful…
Was coming out.
And it was not pleased.
