While Kay was outside, bending down to check…something with the car's tires, I decided to re-listen to the voicemail.
Cherry's cheerful voice filled the car. My mind wandered until I got back to the bit I'd missed.
"-he promised to help her unload a shipment of soil today. So if you run by there you could probably run into him."
There was a pause in the message.
"Lee, it sounded like this young man was getting flowers for a lover. Did he give them to you? Please tell me you're not stalking some one sided crush--heh… Oh my god, please tell me you're not doing that!"
Damn, she had no faith in me…
Outside, Kay paused and leaned against the car while he typed out a text message. My phone pinged a few seconds after, making me falsely assume he was texting me.
Obviously it wasn't. There was one car door between us. He had no reason to text me. In reality it was a follow up text from Cherry.
