Chapter 3 - The burly man who suddenly appeared

Seeing He Xian's terrified state, that qiang and hu people rider seemed quite satisfied. He let out a loud cry, and with a sudden surge of power in his right arm, he lifted the old servant's corpse on his Iron Lance. Then, with another swing, the hundred-plus pound corpse was hurled violently toward He Xian.

With that throw, the qiang and hu people rider acted as if he were tossing away a piece of trash!

However, He Xian, who had suddenly snapped back to his senses, didn't have time to think. Facing the flying corpse, he treated it like a precious treasure, quickly spreading his arms to catch the old servant's body.

But he hadn't expected that a corpse weighing over a hundred pounds would be thrown by the qiang and hu people rider like a massive boulder. It instantly pinned him to the ground, causing an agonizing tightness in his chest.

The qiang and hu people laughed with arrogant pride. That mocking expression caused He Xian's brain to flush with blood, and his eyes turned blood-red in an instant. He scrambled up, carefully laid the old servant's body aside, and roared at the qiang and hu people rider, "You son of a bitch, I'll make you pay for this with your life!"

He Xian was usually an easy-going person; if there was a way out, he would slowly retreat. But if he felt there was no escape, he would immediately become a desperate man. At that moment, the energy he unleashed would be even more terrifying than those who usually looked fierce.

This personality could be called impulsive or hot-blooded. Regardless, the scene before him made He Xian feel as if he were about to explode, a towering rage in his chest that he wanted to wash away with blood!

However, faced with He Xian's desperate charge, the qiang and hu people rider on horseback was completely dismissive.

He simply tilted his horse's head slightly to find the right angle, then swung his Iron Lance. A powerful whistling sound flashed past He Xian's ear. His waist and abdomen were struck heavily by the Iron Lance, and he fell like a ball against a bronze pillar in the main hall.

Standing up again, before He Xian could rush forward, he felt a stifling sensation in his chest. Unable to hold it back, he spat out a mouthful of blood. With the loss of that blood, his entire body suddenly became weak. The discomfort and pain in his chest and abdomen hit him instantly, along with the dizziness from his head hitting the bronze pillar.

Reaching back to touch the back of his head, He Xian knew a lump had formed. His vision was suddenly obscured by a mass of black hair—he had thrown away his hairpins in the Rear Pond Garden earlier, and with this impact, his hair had naturally fallen loose.

At this moment, with blood at the corner of his mouth and disheveled hair, He Xian looked like a malevolent ghost from hell. Although he was in an extremely wretched state, he swore in his heart that even if it cost him his life, he would drag that despicable qiang and hu people bastard off his horse!

He just couldn't understand why the qiang and hu people rider had casually slaughtered the old servant just now, yet despite being able to kill him just as easily, why had he hesitated to strike?

"Because I want to slowly toy with you dog-like bastards until you're dead! I want to kill all your servants and steal all your things right in front of your eyes!" The qiang and hu people rider on the horse seemed to see through He Xian's confusion and spoke arrogantly, pointing his Iron Lance at him. At that moment, the way he stared at He Xian was like a wild cat watching a mouse.

He Xian understood now. Although he was wearing plain white mourning clothes made of silk, the expensive fabric still indicated his status as the master. This qiang and hu people must have spent a long time in Han lands; not only was he fluent in the Han language, but he also understood Han customs. From what he had just revealed, this clearly wasn't the first time he had done this!

He Xian knew that as someone from a peaceful era who had, at most, been in a few group scuffles as a youth, he was no match for a hardened Soldier who had survived countless battles and emerged from mountains of corpses and seas of blood.

However, as his fury reached its peak, He Xian actually began to calm down, carefully thinking about how to kill this qiang and hu people bastard.

It was only then that he gradually became aware of the chaos outside the main hall—this qiang and hu people rider was clearly an organized Soldier; how could he have broken into this estate alone!

Immediately after, He Xian saw the qiang and hu people rider give a whistle. The main door, which had only been slightly ajar after being hit by the horse, suddenly shattered into pieces! Three or four horses charged into the main hall simultaneously. Amidst the flying wood splinters, the cruel and fierce scene of the cavalry's entry made He Xian's heart stop for a moment!

Now, it was even less likely he could kill these people.

But it was also at this moment that the fire in He Xian's chest began to spread even more fiercely. Leaning against the bronze pillar, he could see through the broken wooden door into the front courtyard, where nearly dozens of qiang and hu people riders were wantonly using their whips to drive and humiliate the estate's servants.

Some beautiful maidservants were their primary targets. They whistled as they swept past the pale-faced girls, violently tearing at their clothes with every pass!

Some of the less experienced qiang and hu people had already dismounted and were looting like devils entering a village, stuffing items from the courtyard into sacks behind their horses. These men, who had long been at the borders and had never seen the prosperity of the Han capital, Luoyang, didn't even spare the exquisitely carved decorative stones in the courtyard.

The men who had entered the main hall one after another were even more chaotic. They shouted as they grabbed everything—from the brushes, ink, paper, and inkstones on the low tables to the curtains and decorations. Some qiang and hu people, long accustomed to plundering wealthy households, had already passed through the main hall and run toward the rear estate where grain and jewelry were stored!

This was a carnival for these qiang and hu people bastards!

He Xian knew that soon, once these qiang and hu people had plundered everything in the estate and were no longer satisfied with wantonly bullying the maidservants and servants, their next step would be to kill everyone in the residence, including him!

The only ones who might temporarily be spared were the beautiful maidservants. But their subsequent fate would be a living death!

There wasn't much time left.

At that moment, He Xian also saw the leader of this group of qiang and hu people riders.

In the courtyard stood a young man clad in bright scale armor, surrounded and protected by many Personal Guards. The young man wasn't bad-looking, but the arrogant indulgence and bloodthirsty cruelty on his face made He Xian find him utterly repulsive—even more deserving of death than the qiang and hu people rider who had just killed the old servant!

After all, the one responsible for all of this was clearly this arrogant young man!

The young man laughed wantonly. As he watched those qiang and hu people riders kill, burn, and loot, instead of stopping them, he shouted loudly, "Boys, enjoy yourselves to the fullest! The He Family's downfall is today; from now on, it is our Dong Family that shall rule this Han Dynasty!"

"This guy is actually one of Dong Zhuo's men?" Hearing the young man's shout, He Xian couldn't help but look bitter. It seemed Dong Zhuo really was targeting the He Family. But hadn't he considered that by so brazenly uprooting the He Family, wouldn't he, Dong Zhuo, be afraid of universal condemnation?

As expected, the Dong Zhuo of this time was a complete political idiot!

Although He Jin was incompetent at managing people and had no loyal subordinates after his death—making him a laughingstock of the Late Han Dynasty—he was still the Grand General and had worked diligently to rectify the Han Dynasty. He had accumulated a certain reputation in the imperial court. If those Scholar-officials and military subordinates learned that Dong Zhuo had treated the He Family this way, they would surely use it as an excuse to attack him en masse.

However, none of this had anything to do with He Xian. The reason he was thinking so much was entirely because he was completely helpless in the face of his current predicament.

"Predicament?" At the thought of this, He Xian suddenly realized something. "Judge Cui said before that I would soon face a predicament, and the trial system also gave a prompt. That means everything just now wasn't a dream?"

"So, who exactly is that suitable person recommended by the system? Will he really help me resolve the current crisis?" At this moment, the despairing, pained, angry, and unwilling He Xian had completely pinned his hopes on that Underworld Talent Delivery System.

It was then that he suddenly saw another change in the courtyard.

A burly man with a curly beard appeared at the gate out of nowhere. Seeing the demonic chaos in the courtyard, the man's eyes suddenly widened in rage, and his beard bristled. "In broad daylight and under the clear sky, how dare you dog thieves act like this?"

With that, the man let out a roar and suddenly charged into the midst of that murderous Iron Cavalry!
