Ebhabe Fire Asha Jai (This Is How One Can Return)

Part 2 – Meghla and Arnob (English Version, Bengali Style)

That afternoon the sky was unusually cloudy. A soft wind was blowing, making the leaves of the trees sway gently. The air felt heavy, almost as if it carried the emotions hidden inside Meghla's heart.

After suddenly meeting Arnob again after so many years, Meghla's mind had not been calm for a single moment.

She was standing on the balcony of her house, looking at the grey sky. Again and again Arnob's face appeared in her thoughts. His eyes were still the same—deep, calm, and thoughtful. But this time there was a shadow of pain in them.

Arnob also could not sleep that night. Seeing Meghla after seven long years had shaken something deep inside him. Old memories returned like a sudden storm.

Once, they loved each other deeply.

Their college days were filled with laughter, dreams, and endless conversations. They used to sit under the big banyan tree on the campus and talk about their future. Arnob wanted to open a bookstore someday, and Meghla dreamed of becoming a teacher.

They believed their love would last forever.

But life does not always follow the plans of the heart.

Suddenly Meghla's father became seriously ill. Her family was going through a very difficult time. At the same time, a misunderstanding happened between Meghla and Arnob. Hurt and confused, Meghla decided to step away from his life.

Without explaining anything properly, she disappeared.

Arnob searched for her everywhere. He tried calling her, messaging her, even visiting places where they used to meet. But Meghla had closed every door.

And slowly, time passed.

Seven years went by.

The next morning Meghla woke up with a strange determination in her heart. For years she had carried guilt and unsaid words. She knew she could not keep them inside anymore.

Today she would talk to Arnob.

She slowly walked through the streets of the city. Her heart was beating fast. What if Arnob hated her? What if he had forgotten everything?

Meanwhile Arnob was sitting inside his small bookstore.

The bookstore was simple but beautiful. Shelves filled with novels, poetry books, and old classics surrounded the room. Arnob had built this place with love. Books had become his closest companions.

Yet somewhere deep inside his heart, a quiet emptiness still existed.

Suddenly the bell on the door rang.

Arnob looked up.

For a moment he could not believe what he saw.

Standing at the door was Meghla.

Time seemed to stop.

Their eyes met, and neither of them spoke for a few seconds.

Meghla slowly stepped inside the bookstore. Her voice trembled slightly.

"Arnob… can we talk?"

Arnob remained silent for a moment. Then he nodded.

"Yes… sit."

They sat facing each other, but silence filled the room. So many words were waiting to be spoken, yet both of them struggled to begin.

Finally Meghla spoke.

"You must hate me."

Arnob smiled faintly.

"If I hated you, I wouldn't have remembered you for so many years."

Tears appeared in Meghla's eyes.

Slowly she began telling him everything—the illness of her father, the pressure from her family, the misunderstanding that made her believe Arnob no longer trusted her.

She explained how fear and pain pushed her to walk away.

Arnob listened quietly.

After she finished speaking, he said only one sentence.

"If you had trusted me just once… maybe we wouldn't have lost all those years."

Meghla lowered her head as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I know," she whispered. "I made a mistake. But believe me, I never forgot you."

Soft evening light was entering the bookstore through the window. The golden sunlight fell on their faces, making the moment feel strangely peaceful.

Arnob spoke again.

"You know, Meghla… many times I imagined what I would say if I ever met you again. But now it feels like… there is nothing to say."

Meghla's heart suddenly filled with fear.

"What do you mean?"

Arnob looked at her and gave a gentle smile.

"I mean… even after all these years, seeing you still feels the same."

Meghla stared at him in surprise.

Arnob continued softly,

"If love is true, it doesn't die with time."

Hearing this, Meghla felt a strange warmth inside her heart.

But then Arnob added quietly,

"However… there is one thing."

"What?" Meghla asked anxiously.

"Life is not the same anymore," Arnob said. "Many things have changed."

A sudden fear crossed Meghla's mind.

"Are you… married?"

Arnob shook his head slowly.

"No."

Meghla breathed in relief.

Arnob looked at the bookshelves and said,

"I never married… because I could never give your place to someone else."

Tears again filled Meghla's eyes.

Outside, soft rain had started falling. The gentle sound of raindrops created a beautiful atmosphere inside the bookstore.

Meghla looked at Arnob and spoke with a trembling voice.

"Arnob… what if we start again?"

Arnob remained silent for a few moments, looking at her deeply.

Then he asked,

"Is it really possible to go back to the way things were?"

Meghla answered softly,

"It may not be easy… but it is not impossible."

The rain grew heavier outside. The smell of wet earth mixed with the quiet scent of old books inside the shop.

For a moment neither of them spoke.

Then Arnob slowly extended his hand toward Meghla.

"Then let's try… once again."

Meghla held his hand.

Years of pain, misunderstandings, and distance seemed to melt away slowly in that single moment.

Inside her heart, Meghla felt something she had not felt for a long time—peace.

She realized something important.

Sometimes life gives people a second chance.

Sometimes love finds its way back.

And sometimes…

this is how one can return.

But their story is not over yet.

Because life always tests love in unexpected ways.

And the real question still remains—
