Chapter 440: Maybe He's Just an Idiot
With the Reincarnation Space matter settled, Minato — no seasoned political schemer by any stretch — found himself with no real way to pry anything useful out of Umaru.
When Umaru and Eriri left Konoha, not a single soul tried to stop them. Nobody in the village dared.
Every senior shinobi in Konoha had witnessed that fight firsthand.
That kind of overwhelming strength wasn't something Konoha could afford to provoke — not with the end of the war still fairly fresh in everyone's memory.
Ryū and Ōtsutsuki Kaguya, naturally, took the opportunity to mooch their share of the 20,000 Points as well — free Points were free Points, after all, no reason to pass them up.
This whole incident had kicked up a fair amount of commotion throughout Konoha, but thankfully, it hadn't spiraled into any wider panic or chaos.
"You're sure you want to settle down in Konoha?"
Ryū's expression carried a faint note of surprise as he looked at Ōtsutsuki Kaguya. He genuinely hadn't expected the Naruto world's own original final boss to want to put down roots right here in the village.
Ōtsutsuki Kaguya gave a small nod, answering the question. "Mm. There's nothing left in this world worth my attention anymore. Given that, I might as well settle down somewhere."
Her reasoning held up well enough, honestly — as a member of the Dimensional Chat Group now, she had access to a far wider world than this one.
Everything about the Naruto world — the Divine Tree, her old schemes, all of it — simply wasn't worth her concern anymore.
Ōtsutsuki Kaguya wanted to do as Ryū had done, settling into this unassuming little village the same way the chat group's own Admin had.
As for why she'd picked Konoha specifically?
Ryū himself was part of the reason. Ōtsutsuki Kaguya figured that, as Admin of the Dimensional Chat Group, he was almost certainly far more capable than she was in plenty of respects.
And building a good relationship with the group's own Admin seemed like a perfectly reasonable thing to prioritize, didn't it?
Meanwhile, back in the Dimensional Chat Group, things carried on as usual — its members apparently requiring neither sleep, food, nor bathroom breaks.
Every single one of them seemed to be online around the clock, twenty-four hours a day. Where they all found the time was anyone's guess.
Kamado Tanjirō: Been signing in these past few days... earned a little over 200 Points total. That should be enough to boost my physical conditioning a bit, right?
Kaguya-sama: Mm, you're still just an ordinary person right now, so 200-plus Points is already enough to push your physical conditioning well beyond normal human limits.
Kaguya-sama: Once you've saved up enough to push your body's durability even further, you'll be able to start learning the Six Powers and other martial techniques.
Kaguya-sama: And if hand-to-hand combat isn't really your thing, you could always try picking up magic instead.
Edward Newgate: Gurararara, newcomer, why don't you train in hand-to-hand alongside old Whitebeard here? Oh, and — any interest in becoming my son?
Edward Newgate: Become my son, and I'll gift you a Devil Fruit I only just got my hands on — a Logia-type, no less!
Crazy Diamond: Whitebeard-ojii-sama just can't resist the urge to adopt another son, can he...
Street-Corner Illustrator: @Kamado Tanjirō, don't worry, newcomer, Whitebeard-ojii-sama's just like that by nature.
Kamado Tanjirō: ...Noted. By the way, could I ask Admin-sama a question?
RawrSoFierce: Hm? What's up? I'll answer whatever I can!
Kamado Tanjirō: Um... I wanted to ask — how strong would I actually need to get to be able to kill Kibutsuji Muzan, the one you mentioned before?
RawrSoFierce: Well... going by how strong Muzan actually is, you could probably just have Tony Stark hand you some gadget right now, and that alone would basically do the job.
Kamado Tanjirō: Huh?! I meant, like, relying purely on my own strength...
RawrSoFierce: Purely your own strength, huh. Once you've learned the Six Powers, that alone should be enough to take him down.
Kamado Tanjirō: Got it! Thank you, Admin-sama, that clears things up!
Kaguya-sama: Kibutsuji Muzan... going by what Admin-sama's saying, that's this world's actual final boss, right?
Kaguya-sama: Why does this boss sound like he's running pretty low on prestige, honestly?
RawrSoFierce: "Low on prestige" doesn't even begin to cover it. From what I know of the guy, he's a genuinely embarrassing final boss.
"..."
Ryū had never actually finished Demon Slayer, but before even starting it, he'd dug deep through the comment sections, where a whole crowd of spoiler-happy fans had thoroughly roasted Muzan for how unimpressive he was.
Take, for instance, the fact that this demon king — someone who'd lived for centuries upon centuries — had apparently spent nearly the entire series just hiding and scraping by, acting genuinely pathetic the whole time.
And across the entire work, whenever this guy actually did something, it was either eating random civilians, or murdering his own subordinates.
Yes — his own underlings, slaughtered by their own boss, more or less wholesale.
And on top of that, he'd gotten run ragged by some ragtag group calling itself the Demon Slayer Corps, which honestly left Ryū more than a little baffled.
Muzan's own blood could turn ordinary humans into demons. If he'd simply used that blood to seize control of various nations at the time, leveraging, say, the full military might of the Land of the Rising Sun against the Demon Slayer Corps, wouldn't he have crushed them effortlessly?
Worth remembering, Demon Slayer's timeline lined up with the real-world Taishō era — right around the First World War.
Guns and artillery deployed en masse, and he still couldn't handle a ragtag demon-hunting squad?
Please. Give him a break.
Even later in the manga, an Upper Rank One demon couldn't dodge a shotgun blast.
And yet Muzan — a man sitting on an absolute royal flush of advantages, with countless ways to seize total control — had instead chosen, for whatever reason, to just lie low. For centuries. Literally hundreds, thousands of years of hiding.
Ryū shook his head, brushing off his own string of complaints. Honestly, this guy's overall presence didn't even measure up to Mizuki, that minor Naruto side-villain.
For Tanjirō to actually take down someone like Muzan, mastering the Six Powers alone would be more than sufficient.
And if he was really in a hurry for revenge, he could always just ask Tony Stark or Wolffy to whip up some kind of UV-light device.
Point that at Muzan, and the Demon Slayer franchise's own final boss would probably just turn to ash on the spot.
"Maybe he's just an idiot."
Ryū muttered the thought to himself, half-serious. He didn't exactly consider himself a genius, but he was fairly confident he had Muzan beat on brains, at least.
