Chapter 1 - The Mother of The Heart of Maidens

In a small village near the northern borders of the artic. A small village comprised of vampires and humans lives in harmony. The women known as The Great Mother or Madam Freya has kept watch over them over 500 years. She has given birth to three children. When she was nearing her 200's she was married to a male human in his 20's. This is equivalent in their age based on species. She birthed one child with him and was together till his last days. The child was know as The Wild One, or Ari. As Freya reached reach 300's she remarried to another human, and with him bared another child. Again was with them until his passing days. When she reached her 400's she married for the 3rd and to be last time, which is why most would pick another vampire to we'd. However she picked a mixed blood born from a vampire mother with generations of different hybrids. Meaning that instead of picking a pure blood or vampire or human. He was that of uncontrolled blood. His mother was a vampire and father a human, tho his mother was that from a vampire and a hybrid. Seemingly through traditional methods of controlled breeding. If your mother was vampire, and father a human, only the females could breed with humans, while males were marked mixed and had limited options to find a mate. The traditions have reason and purpose. The Madam Freya has now gone against traditions and being head of village is seen as a mark for disaster. Tradition states she pick a vampire for her last breeding mate and they will sit on council to assist the village. Having human shortens lifespan, physical strength, and so on. Sometimes many hybrids live as long as many vampires, but not often.
