Chapter 2 - chapter 2: The day everything changed

Jay's POV

Sunday mornings were usually peaceful, but that day felt different.

As the soft sunlight streamed through the windows, I walked toward the dining table, still half-sleepy. When I reached the table, I saw Kuya Angelo already sitting there. Beside him sat my horoscope brother, Aries, who was scrolling through his phone.

Kuya Angelo looked up the moment he noticed me.

"Good morning, Jay," he said in his usual calm but strict voice.

"Good morning, Kuya," I replied softly as I sat down.

Then he suddenly asked, his tone serious,

"Do you have any plans for today?"

Whenever Kuya spoke like that, it felt like the temperature in the room dropped. He was always strict and intimidating.

I swallowed nervously.

"Yes, Kuya… I'm going out at 5 in the evening."

Aries immediately looked at me with a teasing smile.

Kuya Angelo's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Jay… who are you going with?"

My heart skipped for a second.

"I'm going with my friends, Kuya."

He studied my face for a moment before nodding slowly.

"Alright. But make sure you come back home by 9:30 pm."

"Yes, Kuya."

I started eating my breakfast while Aries kept kicking my leg under the table and whispering teasingly.

"Hmm… friends, huh? Or one special friend?"

"Aries! Shut up," I whispered, trying not to laugh.

Just then Tita Gema walked in with a warm smile.

"Good morning, Jay. I heard you're going out with your friends today."

"Good morning, Tita," I smiled. "Yes, I am."

She patted my shoulder kindly.

"Have fun and be safe, okay? And make sure you come home on time."

"I will, Tita."

I finished my breakfast and stood up to go back to my room.

But suddenly…

My vision started spinning.

Everything around me became blurry.

"W-wait…"

A sharp pain shot through my stomach.

"Kuya…" I tried to say, but the pain became unbearable.

And then—

Everything went black.

Angelo's POV

The moment Jay collapsed, my heart stopped.

"JAY!!" I shouted, rushing toward her.

Aries panicked too.

"Kuya what happened?!"

Without wasting a second, Aries quickly lifted Jay into his arms.

"Take her to her room!" I said urgently.

Aries carried her upstairs while I immediately called the family doctor.

Jay looked pale… too pale.

While we waited for the doctor, her phone kept ringing on the table beside her bed.

I glanced at the screen.

King of ULPONGS

I frowned.

Who was that?

Thinking it might be her friend, I answered the call.

"Hello?"

There was silence.

"Jay fainted just now. The doctor is coming."

Still… no response.

The call ended.

The doctor arrived shortly after and examined Jay carefully.

Aries and I stood there anxiously.

Finally the doctor sighed and said,

"Don't worry. She fainted because of her period pain. It happens sometimes."

I felt my shoulders relax.

"Once she wakes up, let her rest for an hour. After that, she can go wherever she planned to go."

Keifer's POV

After returning home with my brothers, I couldn't stop thinking about Jay.

I missed her.

So I called her.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

No answer.

"Why isn't she picking up?" I muttered.

I called again and again.

Finally the call connected.

"Jay—"

But before I could speak, I heard a man's voice.

"Jay fainted just now."

My heart dropped.

What?

I froze.

The man continued talking, but my mind had already started racing.

I grabbed my keys immediately.

"I'm going out!" I told my brothers before rushing out the door.

The whole drive felt endless.

Please be okay… please be okay…

When I arrived at her house, I didn't even greet anyone.

I ran straight upstairs.

She was lying on the bed… pale but breathing peacefully.

"Jay…" I whispered.

At that moment, her eyes slowly opened.

"Keifer…?"

Relief flooded through me.

"Are you okay?!" I asked, holding her hand tightly.

She looked confused.

"Yes… why?"

"You fainted!"

"Oh…" she said shyly, looking away. "It's just… period pain."

I sighed deeply and rested my forehead against her hand.

"You scared me to death."

She smiled softly.

"I'm sorry."

Then I suddenly remembered something.

"Wait… weren't we supposed to meet at 5?"

She nodded.

"Yes."

I smiled.

"Then get ready. Our date is still happening."

5:00 PM – The Beach Date

The sunset painted the sky in beautiful shades of orange and pink as Jay and I walked along the quiet beach.

The sound of waves crashing gently against the shore made everything feel peaceful.

Jay removed her sandals and let the water touch her feet.

"Keifer… this place is beautiful."

I smiled.

"I knew you'd like it."

We walked slowly along the shore.

The wind played with her hair, and the sunset made her look even more beautiful.

She suddenly stopped walking.

"Keifer…"

I turned to her.

"Yes?"

She looked nervous.

"I've been thinking about something."

"What is it?"

She took a deep breath.

"I want us to become official."

My heart skipped.

"You mean…"

She nodded slowly.

"I want everyone to know that you're my boyfriend."

For a moment, I was speechless.

Then I smiled wider than ever.

"You have no idea how long I've been waiting to hear that."

"Really?"

"Of course."

I gently held her hands.

"Jay… I've liked you for so long."

She laughed softly.

"Then why didn't you say anything?"

"Because I was scared you'd reject me."

She shook her head.

"Never."

The sky slowly darkened as the stars appeared above us.

We sat on the sand, watching the waves.

Jay leaned her head on my shoulder.

"Today was scary," she admitted quietly.

"When I fainted… I thought my day was ruined."

I wrapped my arm around her.

"But now?"

She smiled.

"Now it's the best day ever."

I looked at her and said softly,

"Jay…"

"Yes?"

"From today onwards… you're officially mine."

She laughed and nudged me.

"And you're mine too."

The waves kept moving gently beside us as we watched the moon reflect on the ocean.

And for the first time…

Everything felt perfect. 🌙
