"Beat this stupid girl," said the old lady. "My miss will award you all with 10 taels of silver" she again commanded.
Su Yuxin was greatly beaten up. She didn't even have the strength to cry out loud. The first blow had torn the sound from her throat and now only ragged air slipped between her swollen lips. Their fists crashed into her ribs; each strike was brutal explosion underneath her skin. Their kick drove into her stomach and spine, forcing her to cough blood. One of the maids wrenched her hair back so violently that she could feel her scalp burn along with strands of hair ripping free in bloody tangles.
Her body convulsed on instinct not resistance. Su Yuxin tried her best to breath, but her lungs refused to comply. She could only do shallow and useless gasps. Darkness slowly crept into the edges of her vision as the pain grew more and more. But that didn't stop them. They
struck her like she was already a dead corpse that they needed to make certain of. Their objective was simple. Brutal, Final.
They wanted her dead. No, they needed her to die right here and right now.
"Nanny Xu, I think miss isn't breathing anymore." Said one of the young servants. "It's good that she is dead" Nanny Xu showed a huge smile on her face indicating that she was satisfied with the result. "Leave her corpse here and let's go back to miss. She will fulfil the promise. She will reward you all for your hard work today."
All the servants along with Nanny Xu went back leaving Su Yuxin corpse there. She laid there motionless. She wasn't laid to rest but rather thrown away like she was trash that needed to be discarded. There was no dignity in the way she lay. Not even serenity. The wind howled as sun slowly set in the hill. Soon the corpse started moving. "O-Ouch, which bastard has a death wish trying to hurt this lady?" exclaimed the young lady who was dead few moments ago. Almost immediately, a sharp pain clawed at her throat, and she struggled to breath. She clutched her chest tightly as gasps tore from her lungs desperately.
Her eyes flickered open in pain, heavy and unsteady. She scanned her arms and legs and froze at the sight. There were deep bruises, scratches fresh streaks of blood all over her body. Her scalp throbbed in pain from the vicious hair-pulling she had endured before. She looked around to see if there was anybody but was only greeted by the deadly silence.
"Whoever plotted against me better be careful cause this lady will pay them back hundred-fold."
She snorted and slowly tried get up only to be hit by a nauseous feeling. She sat on the floor crisscrossed as the memory of the girl whose body she possessed hit her head. She found out she died cause of the sudden meteor that fell right at the area where her secret laboratory was located.
"I can't catch a break. Me -- a national award–winning doctor and a feared underworld figure was taken out by a stupid meteor. I guess the gods still have some sense of humor, giving me a second chance, even if it's not exactly perfect. I won't let fate control me. I've always relied on myself, and I will do so again.
This poor girl… to be betrayed and killed by someone she trusted like her own sister, and her fiancé… it's pathetic. Don't worry, Su Yuxin. Now that I'm in your body, I'll make sure everyone who wronged you pays."
With that thought, Ju Ruyun who was now in the body of Su Yuxin, the young lady of the General's household--stood, her resolve hardening. She stepped toward the mansion, each step carrying the weight of vengeance that is yet to come.
