"Me?" Luca repeats.
"Yes."
"You're blaming me?"
"You make everything more complicated."
He smiles slightly.
"I get that a lot."
I shake my head.
"You enjoy this."
"What?"
"Getting reactions out of people."
His expression softens slightly.
"Not from you."
That answer catches me off guard.
"Why not?"
He takes a step closer again.
"You're different."
My heart speeds up.
"How?"
"You don't look at me like everyone else does."
"And how do they look at you?"
"Like they already know who I am."
I study him carefully.
"Maybe they're wrong."
His eyes hold mine.
"Maybe."
