Luca's car smelled like leather and rain.
Autumn climbed into the passenger seat.
Thunder cracked overhead as he started the engine.
For a while they drove in silence.
Then she asked quietly,
"What mistakes did you mean earlier?"
His grip tightened slightly on the steering wheel.
"Old stuff."
"Bad stuff?"
"Depends who you ask."
"That's not comforting."
He glanced at her.
"You're still here."
"That's because I don't scare easily."
He smirked.
"Good."
