Chapter 1 - Island city in the ocean

Last December, my wife and I went to Singapore for the Christmas holidays. It was our first trip abroad. My husband has been working in Singapore for about four years, and that was the reason we went there.

We left Dum Dum Airport at 8:30 am on December 24th and reached Singapore at around 12:45 pm Indian time. The name of the airport in that country is 'Changi Airport'. It is one of the famous international airports in the world. How huge is its runway! There are beautiful malls inside the airport too. As soon as we cleared immigration and came out of the gate, we saw our husband waiting with a smile.

On December 25th, I went to a street called 'Orchard Road'. I was amazed to see the colorful lights all around. People of many languages gathered in the joy of Christmas. Everyone was filled with bright joy. We witnessed it. I heard that the richest community lives on this street.

The next day I went to a strange zoo called 'Night Safari'. This zoo opens in the evening. We also bought tickets and entered. We rode in a car with 5-6 cars like our 'Toto' car, we went through the dense jungle and saw tigers, lions, elephants and countless other wild animals roaming around. And the distance between us and them was very large, within 30-35 feet. To be honest, I was quite scared, it gave me goosebumps. It was an exciting feeling.

We went to 'Merlion Park', 'Esplanade' where we have the I.N.A. Monument, which is intertwined with the memory of Netaji, as a witness to history. When we went to Merlion Park, I saw that water was continuously flowing from the mouth of a lion on the river bank. I especially noticed that the upper part of that architecture is like a lion and the lower part is like a fish's tail. I was amazed by this architecture and this is what makes Singapore famous. I also enjoyed the night 'River Cruise' and 'Clarke-Quay'. Such beautiful scenery satisfied the eyes and mind that in the words of the poet, 'What I have seen, what I have inherited is incomparable.'One day I went to see the Ramakrishna Mission Boys' Home in Singapore. This place is very close to Bartley Station in Singapore. I had Darshan of Thakur, Shrima and Swamiji. And prayed for blessings for everyone. More surprises awaited me the day I went to see the 'Jurong Bird Park'. Here the entire area filled with the chirping of about 5000 birds and 400 species of birds (according to the information given by the authorities) left us speechless. Here the birds come and sit on our hands, eat food from our hands (of course the food that is allowed for them). And in the afternoon I saw the 'Pool Amphitheatre'. There the birds (like eagles, owls, vultures, hawks etc.) under the supervision of a master perform various games.

Next to where we lived, there is a college a little far from Bedok Reservoir. The name is Poly. It is taught. And the Gardens, i.e. Tampines Ave-1, is a park. That is a place for health care. Teamsek Poly. Tech Tech, but seeing the degree courses here by the Bay was rewarding. It includes Flower Dome (various types of flowers, trees, thousand-year-old olive trees), Cloud Forest (a man-made 35-meter-high mountain and a waterfall flowing down its body).

I have to mention one more thing to see. Otherwise the writing will remain incomplete. The day before returning, I went to see the Singapore Cable Car. I even rode it. The Cable Car leaves 'Faber Peak' 'Sentosa Island' sta-Front' station in the middle. I can see the blue water of the ocean, that view! An unforgettable journey that leaves me breathless at its beauty. From AMA station and ends here. And I am going to the 'Harbour Cable Car, and below on the other side is the Island. What an incredible thing to believe. This is my

I have written everything about traveling. What has not been written is about that country. It is not possible to know everything in seven days. However, I am writing what I understood in those few days. Singapore is an island country. People from different languages and countries live here. This country follows the Chinese calendar. The people of that country are very friendly. The streets and alleys are sparkling. I have not seen any dirt lying anywhere, not even a piece of paper. The vehicles in this country run in sync with the times. It rains almost constantly. The drainage system is so good that water never accumulates on the roads. What a huge stadium I saw, it had not even been inaugurated yet. There are also world-class hospitals here. All this is due to the grace of the recently departed Prime Minister and the cooperation of the people of that country. This year is also the 50th anniversary of the country's independence. That is why the festival is being held.

After spending eleven days, I returned to my country on January 4th.

But I can say this much: what I visited, what I saw, will remain with me forever. It will remain a constant wonder.

Mother

If I could give you diamonds for each tear you cried for me, If I could give you sapphires for each truth you've helped me to see.

If I could give you rubies for your wisdom that is known, If I could give you pearls for the patience that you've shown.

Then you'll have a treasure that would mount up to the skies, That would almost match with the spark of your kind eyes.

But I have no pearls, no diamonds as I'm sure you're well aware, So I'll give you gifts more precious my devotion, love and care.
