Chapter 15 - 1st chapter

Episode 1: The Frosty Senior

The glass doors of Skyline Architects swung open, revealing a world of frantic typing, ringing phones, and the smell of expensive espresso. Soniya adjusted the pleats of her formal skirt, her heart drumming a nervous rhythm. This was her dream job—Senior Interior Designer—but there was one obstacle: her supervisor, Ayan Malhotra.

Rumor had it Ayan had a heart made of blueprints and a soul made of steel. He didn't believe in "creative excuses." He believed in results.

"You're three minutes early," a deep, melodic voice sliced through her thoughts.

Soniya looked up. Ayan stood by the window, his back to her. He was tall, his white shirt sleeves rolled up to reveal muscular forearms, and his hair was dark and perfectly styled. When he turned around, Soniya felt the air leave her lungs. His eyes were a piercing hazel, framed by thick lashes, but they were as cold as a winter morning in the Himalayas.

"I believe punctuality is the first step toward excellence, Mr. Ayan," Soniya replied, regaining her composure.

Ayan walked toward her, his presence dominating the room. He stopped just inches away, looking down at her portfolio. "Excellence isn't about showing up on time, Soniya. It's about what you do when the clock stops. Follow me."

The day was a whirlwind. Ayan didn't give her a tour; he gave her a mountain of work. He was demanding, correcting her smallest sketches with a red pen that felt like a dagger to her pride.

"This curve is too soft," he said, leaning over her shoulder to point at a drawing. "The client wants power, not a nursery."

Soniya could smell his cologne—sandalwood and citrus. It was distracting. "Actually," she countered, her voice trembling slightly but growing stronger, "the softness provides balance to the industrial glass. If you make everything 'power,' the space becomes unlivable."

Ayan paused. He looked at the sketch, then at her. For a split second, the frost in his eyes flickered. "Balance," he whispered. He didn't agree, but he didn't erase it either.

As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the office, Soniya noticed Ayan hadn't moved from his desk. He was hunched over a structural report, his brow furrowed in a way that made him look... human. Tired.

"Sir?" she called out softly. "I'm heading out. Do you need anything?"

Ayan didn't look up. "The world doesn't stop for sleep, Soniya. Goodnight."

She walked to the elevator, but she couldn't stop thinking about the loneliness she saw in his posture. He was a king in a glass castle, but he was all alone. Little did she know, Ayan was watching her reflection in the glass window as she left, a small, uncharacteristic smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.

"Softness and balance," he muttered to himself. "Maybe this office needed a bit of that."
