Chapter 1 - The Girl Who Loved the Mafia Boss- Part 1

The city never really slept. Even in the quiet hours of the night, the lights from tall buildings reflected on the wet streets like broken stars. Cars passed occasionally, and somewhere in the distance music played from a late-night club.

But in a small apartment on the edge of the city lived Elena Rossi, a girl whose life was the complete opposite of the chaos outside.

Elena was known by everyone who met her as the good girl.

She worked at a small bookstore during the day, helped her elderly neighbor carry groceries, and spent most evenings reading novels or sketching in her notebook. Her life was simple, peaceful, and predictable.

At least… it used to be.

Everything changed on a rainy Thursday night.

The Night Everything Changed

Elena closed the bookstore later than usual that evening. Her boss had asked her to finish organizing a shipment of new books, and by the time she stepped outside, the streets were nearly empty.

Rain fell softly, tapping against the pavement.

Elena pulled her coat tighter and started walking home.

She didn't notice the black cars parked across the street.

She didn't notice the men watching.

And she definitely didn't notice the tall figure standing under the dim streetlight.

Until she almost ran into him.

"Oh—I'm sorry!" she said quickly, stepping back.

The man didn't move.

He was tall, broad-shouldered, dressed in a dark suit that looked far too expensive for the quiet street they were on. His black hair was slightly wet from the rain, and his sharp eyes studied her carefully.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Then suddenly—

A loud shout echoed from down the street.

"Boss! They're coming!"

Elena blinked in confusion.

Before she could react, two black cars screeched around the corner.

The man's expression hardened instantly.

Without warning, he grabbed Elena's wrist and pulled her behind him.

"Stay behind me," he said quietly.

His voice was calm… but dangerous.

Men jumped out of the cars, shouting angrily.

Elena's heart began pounding.

She had no idea what was happening, but one thing became very clear.

The man in front of her was not ordinary.

And the people chasing him were not friendly.

Within seconds, several men rushed forward, but the man protecting her moved quickly, blocking them and forcing them back. His movements were controlled and confident, like someone used to handling dangerous situations.

Finally, after a tense moment, the attackers retreated and drove away.

The street fell silent again.

Elena slowly stepped out from behind him.

"Are… are you okay?" she asked nervously.

The man turned to her, studying her again.

"You should go home," he said.

"Wait," she replied softly. "What just happened?"

For the first time, the corner of his mouth twitched slightly, almost like he was amused.

"You don't want to know."

But Elena was curious.

And stubborn.

"You saved me," she said. "The least you can do is tell me your name."

He hesitated.

Then he said one word.

"Adrian."

The Truth She Didn't Expect

For the next few days, Elena tried to forget the strange encounter.

But she couldn't.

The man named Adrian kept appearing in her thoughts.

His calm voice.

His sharp eyes.

The way the other men called him "Boss."

Something about him was mysterious… and dangerous.

Then, three days later, he walked into the bookstore.

Elena nearly dropped the stack of books in her hands.

"You," she said.

Adrian looked just as calm as before.

"I needed a book," he replied.

Elena raised an eyebrow.

"You could have gone to any bookstore in the city."

"Yes," he said simply.

"But I came to this one."

Elena tried to ignore the strange feeling in her chest.

"So… what kind of book are you looking for?"

Adrian looked around the store slowly.

"Something about loyalty."

Elena laughed softly.

"That's not exactly a category."

But she still walked to a shelf and picked up a novel.

"This one," she said. "It's about people who stay loyal to each other no matter what."

Adrian took the book from her.

Their fingers brushed slightly.

For some reason, Elena's heart skipped.

Then suddenly—

The door of the bookstore burst open.

Three men rushed inside.

They wore dark suits… and serious expressions.

"Boss," one of them said urgently.

Elena froze.

Boss?

Adrian sighed slightly.

"I told you not to call me that here."

The men looked uncomfortable.

"Sorry, boss."

Elena slowly turned to Adrian.

"…Boss?"

For a moment, the entire store was silent.

Then Adrian looked at her calmly and said the words that would change everything.

"I run the largest mafia organization in the city."

Elena's eyes widened.

"You're joking."

"I'm not."

She stared at him, waiting for him to laugh.

But he didn't.

Her heart began racing again.

"You're… a mafia boss?"

"Yes."

"And you came to my bookstore?"

"Yes."

Elena crossed her arms.

"That's the worst lie I've ever heard."

Adrian actually smiled.

Just slightly.

"I told you," he said quietly.

"You wouldn't want to know."

A Dangerous Connection

After that day, things should have ended.

A normal girl and a mafia boss should never cross paths again.

But somehow…

Adrian kept returning to the bookstore.

Sometimes he bought books.

Sometimes he just stood quietly while Elena worked.

At first, she tried to ignore him.

But slowly, she began to notice something strange.

Adrian wasn't what she expected.

Yes, he was powerful.

Yes, dangerous people respected him.

But he was also calm, thoughtful… and strangely protective of her.

One evening, Elena finally asked him the question that had been bothering her.

"Why do you keep coming here?"

Adrian looked at her across the counter.

"Because," he said slowly,

"You're the only person in this city who talks to me like I'm normal."

Elena blinked.

"What do you mean?"

"Everyone else," he explained, "either fears me… or obeys me."

He paused.

"But you argue with me about books."

Elena laughed.

"Well… someone has to."

For a moment, the two of them simply looked at each other.

The air between them felt different now.

More personal.

More dangerous.

Finally Adrian spoke again.

"You should stay away from me."

Elena frowned.

"Why?"

"Because my world is not safe."

But Elena surprised him with her answer.

"I'm not afraid of you."

Adrian's expression darkened slightly.

"You should be."

But deep down…

He knew something had already started.

Something neither of them could easily stop.

A good girl.

A dangerous mafia boss.

Two completely different worlds.

And somehow…

Their lives had just become connected.
