Chapter 1 - separated

Long ago, King Arthur and Queen Elinor were traveling back to their kingdom of Serenia, a place of peace and royalty, aboard a majestic ship that cut through the calm waters. The queen, about to give birth to their child, was attended by her most trusted maid in the comfort of her chambers.

King Arthur paced back and forth on the deck, his eyes fixed on the door to the queen's chambers, his heart beating with anticipation. The warm sea breeze carried the sweet scent of saltwater and the sound of waves gently lapping against the hull.

"Any news?" he asked a nearby servant, his voice tense with excitement.

The servant, a young man with a mop of curly hair, shook his head. "Not yet, Your Majesty. The queen is doing well, but the birth is taking longer than expected."

Arthur nodded, his eyes never leaving the door. He couldn't wait to meet their child.

An hour later, the same servant burst onto the deck, a wide smile spreading across his face. "Your Majesty! Congratulations! The queen has given birth to a beautiful baby girl!"

Arthur's eyes welled up with tears as he let out a whoop of joy. "A girl! Oh, Elinor, we're parents!"

Just as he was about to head to Elinor's chambers, a massive wave crashed over the bow, sending the ship pitching violently to one side.

"Hold fast!" the captain bellowed, his voice barely audible over the howling wind.

The guards rushed to the rail, grabbing hold of anything they could to steady themselves. Arthur stumbled, grabbing hold of a nearby post as the ship lurched again.

The ship started breaking apart, and Arthur's heart sank. He rushed to Elinor's chambers, his heart racing with fear.

He burst into the room, and Elinor looked up at him, tears streaming down her face. She was holding their baby girl tightly, her eyes filled with terror. "No, this can't be happening," she whispered. "We just became parents, and this is happening."

Arthur rushed to her side, holding her and the baby tightly. "It's okay, my love," he whispered. "We'll get through this. Let's get out through the cannon."

He picked up their daughter, and Elinor took his hand, her grip like a vice. They made their way out of the chamber, the ship creaking and groaning beneath their feet.

But it was too late. The sea had conquered the ship, and Arthur felt himself falling, the baby slipping from his grasp. He tried to hold on, but it was no use. The ship hit a rock and plunged into the sea, taking everything with it.

Arthur swam upwards, his lungs burning, his body aching. He broke the surface, gasping for air, and looked around frantically. Where was Elinor? Where was his daughter?

He saw Elinor floating nearby, unconscious but alive. He swam to her, holding her close. "Elinor, my love," he whispered, his voice choking with tears.

But where was their daughter? He searched the wreckage, his heart sinking with every passing moment. There was no sign of her.

Arthur's world crumbled around him. He pulled Elinor to safety, his eyes filled with tears. He held her close, his heart broken. Their daughter was gone, lost at sea.

Meanwhile, under the sea, Mermaid Queen Lyrica sat on a rock, her gaze fixed on the surface, lost in thought. Her husband, King Sebastian, had tried to comfort her, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that her child was still out there, somewhere.

Two years ago, she had given birth to their child, and she had seen the baby, alive and kicking. But the pain of childbirth had been too much, and she had fallen unconscious, leaving the baby in the care of her attendants. When she awoke, her baby was lifeless, pale, and cold in her arms. She had refused to believe it, denying the reality of the situation. She knew what she had seen before everything went dark – her baby, alive and full of life.

As she sat on the rock, a tiny figure floated down from above, struggling to swim. Lyrica's heart skipped a beat as she watched the baby, her instincts kicking in. She quickly swam to the baby, holding her close to her chest as she used her powers to transform her into a mermaid, allowing her to breathe underwater.

The baby gazed up at Lyrica, her eyes wide with wonder. Lyrica's heart swelled with emotion as she looked at the tiny creature in her arms. Whose baby was this? She needed to find the parents.

With determination, Lyrica swam to the surface, the baby clheld tightly in her arms. She searched the waters, but there was no sign of the parents. No cries for help, no desperate searches. Nothing.

Lyrica's heart sank, but as she looked down at the baby, she felt a surge of happiness. The Gods had finally blessed her again with a child. She swam back down to the palace, her heart filled with joy and purpose.

Lyrica swam into the throne room of Corallia, her kingdom of coral reefs, with the baby crheld tightly in her arms. King Sebastian's eyes widened as he saw her, and he quickly swam to her side.

"Whose baby is it?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.

Lyrica shook her head, her eyes shining with tears. "I don't know, but this is what I've been praying for," she whispered.

Sebastian's expression softened as he looked at the baby, and then at Lyrica's happy face. He had seen his wife's grief for so long, and now, finally, she looked at peace.

"We'll keep it, and took care of it as our own," he said, smiling.

Lyrica's face lit up, and she nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes, let's do that," she said, tears rolling down her cheeks as she looked down at the baby.

"And what shall we name her?" Sebastian asked, his eyes filled with love for his wife and the tiny stranger in her arms.

Lyrica smiled, her eyes shining with joy. "Aurelia," she whispered.

Sebastian nodded, his face softening. "It's perfect," he said, kissing Lyrica's tears away.

Lyrica looked down at the baby, and her heart swelled with love. "She's so young and adorable," she whispered, kissing the baby's forehead.

Sebastian smiled, wrapping his arms around Lyrica and the baby. "She was meant to be ours," he said, kissing Lyrica's forehead and then the baby's.

Lyrica smiled, feeling a sense of completeness she hadn't felt in years. She knew that Aurelia was a gift, a second chance at happiness, and she was determined to cherish it.
