Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 — The Hunt Begins

The werewolf attacked again.

Its massive claw tore through the air toward Kaelion's head.

But this time—

Kaelion moved.

Predator Instinct rang in his mind like an alarm.

The tension in the creature's muscles.

The direction of the claw.

The exact moment of the strike.

He could sense all of it a split second in advance.

Kaelion jumped sideways.

The claw slammed into the concrete floor.

The stairway cracked.

Chunks of concrete scattered everywhere.

Kaelion quickly got back to his feet.

But the werewolf was faster.

The creature turned instantly.

This time its claw caught Kaelion's shoulder.

Sharp talons tore through his flesh.

A scream escaped Kaelion's mouth before he could stop it.

Blood began flowing from his shoulder.

Kaelion staggered backward.

But the werewolf didn't stop.

Its massive body lunged forward.

It swung its head and slammed into Kaelion.

Kaelion crashed into the wall.

Pain rang inside his skull.

For a moment his vision went dark.

"Damn it…"

The werewolf was approaching again.

Its yellow eyes shone with hunger.

Kaelion raised the iron pipe.

But his arm trembled.

The werewolf attacked.

Kaelion struck back with the pipe.

But the blow barely did anything.

Instead, the werewolf's other claw slashed across his leg.

A deep cut opened above his knee.

Kaelion dropped to one knee.

Blood dripped onto the floor.

His breathing had become uneven.

"At this rate…"

"I'm going to die."

The werewolf slowly approached.

As if it were playing with its prey.

But Predator Instinct activated again.

Kaelion sensed the creature's movement a moment before it happened.

The werewolf leaped.

Kaelion rolled aside at the last second.

The claws struck the ground.

Concrete shattered.

Kaelion stood up.

And swung the iron pipe.

The end of the pipe struck the werewolf's ribs.

The creature howled in anger.

But it barely stepped back.

Kaelion's heart pounded.

"This thing…"

"…is really strong."

The werewolf attacked again.

This time its claw grazed Kaelion's chest.

A fresh cut opened.

[HP: 38 / 70]

Kaelion clenched his teeth.

Blood soaked his shirt.

The werewolf lunged again.

Kaelion stepped back.

Kaelion was dragged across the floor.

His breathing became shallow.

The werewolf kept approaching.

Its eyes had become even more savage.

Kaelion tried to stand.

But his leg trembled.

The werewolf jumped.

Kaelion raised the iron pipe.

The pipe snapped in half.

The claw slashed across his chest again.

[HP: 3 / 70]

Kaelion's vision darkened.

A ringing filled his ears.

The purple system screen flashed red.

[WARNING]

HP CRITICAL

The werewolf slowly approached.

As if it were preparing to deliver the final blow.

Kaelion lay on the ground, covered in blood.

But Predator Instinct was screaming.

Run.

Kaelion gritted his teeth.

Gathering the last of his strength.

He stood up.

And ran down the stairs.

The werewolf roared in fury.

And chased after him.

Kaelion reached the door.

He kicked it open.

Cold night air hit his face.

Kaelion rushed into the street.

But after a few steps—

He stopped.

Because what he saw…

froze his blood.

Under the dim light of the street lamps…

There was another werewolf.

Then another.

And another.

One was tearing apart an overturned car.

Another was climbing the wall of a building.

One more stood over a corpse lying on the street.

Kaelion's eyes widened.

"…Not just one."

There were at least five werewolves in the street.

At that moment one of them lifted its head.

Its yellow eyes turned toward Kaelion.

Then another.

Then a third.

Low growls filled the night.

GRRRRRRR…

Kaelion's Predator Instinct was screaming.

Danger.

Death.

Prey.

Kaelion took a step back.

Then he turned.

And started running.

Because at that moment, Kaelion realized something.

This city no longer belonged to humans.

This city now belonged to the hunters.
