When An Bao turned twenty-two, he began to suffer from insomnia. Throughout the day, he experienced hallucinations. He could hear, see, and even feel things he could understand but could not accept—visions that felt utterly real.
Those visions seemed to tell him: in another world, there was a home, and people in that home were waiting for him. Layer by layer, the truth was revealed, but he paid it no mind. He simply found it interesting and wrote the visions down as a novel.
After all, even if it were real, to him it would still be unreal. He didn't need to change anything. He could just keep living his down-to-earth life as he always had.
