Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Converting Wealth

Chapter 38: Converting Wealth

The following morning in San Francisco began with a clear sky and mild sunlight reflecting off the glass windows of the surrounding buildings. Compared to the frozen wasteland Anshul had visited recently, the calm warmth of the city felt almost unreal.

Anshul left the hotel early.

Today's objective was simple.

Turn the resources he had collected into usable capital.

Carrying large quantities of gold bars directly into financial institutions would be reckless. That would immediately attract attention. Instead, he planned to move carefully, converting only small portions at a time through different channels.

His first stop was a luxury jewelry dealer located in a quieter district of the city.

The shop was elegant but discreet. Inside the glass displays were expensive watches, necklaces, and rare gemstones. A middle-aged man stood behind the counter examining a bracelet through a magnifying lens.

When Anshul entered, the man looked up.

"Good morning. Can I help you?"

"I have a few items I'd like to sell," Anshul replied calmly.

The man gestured toward the counter.

"Let's take a look."

Anshul removed a small velvet pouch from his pocket and placed it on the table. Inside were several diamond rings and a pair of gold bracelets he had collected from the frozen jewelry store.

The dealer's expression changed slightly when he examined the stones under his lens.

"These are high quality."

"That's what I was told."

The dealer chuckled softly.

"Do you know their origin?"

"Private collection."

The man studied Anshul for a moment but didn't press further. In the luxury jewelry market, unusual sources were not uncommon.

After finishing his inspection, he leaned back slightly.

"I can offer you forty thousand dollars for these."

Anshul considered the number briefly.

The items were worth more than that, but negotiating aggressively on the first transaction would only make things suspicious.

"Accepted."

The dealer nodded.

Within minutes the transaction was complete.

When Anshul stepped back outside, the money had already been transferred to his account.

It was only a small portion of what he had collected.

But it was enough to move forward.

Later that afternoon, Anshul returned to the financial district where he had previously met Daniel Carter. The tall office building looked just as busy as before, with employees moving quickly through the lobby.

Daniel was waiting this time.

When he saw Anshul enter the meeting room, he raised an eyebrow.

"You came back."

"I said I would."

"And you brought the business plan?"

Anshul placed a thin folder on the table.

Daniel opened it.

As he began reading, his expression slowly shifted from curiosity to genuine interest.

"This is… ambitious."

"It's scalable."

Daniel flipped through several more pages.

"You want to build a technology platform that predicts market trends using advanced data analysis."

"Yes."

"That requires serious funding."

"I know."

Daniel closed the folder and leaned back.

"You're asking for millions."

"Eventually."

"And what makes you confident you can deliver?"

Anshul met his gaze calmly.

"Because I already know where the market is going."

Daniel studied him carefully.

"You're either extremely confident… or extremely dangerous."

"Maybe both."

A small smile appeared on Daniel's face.

"I'll arrange a meeting with the senior partners."

"Good."

As Anshul left the building again, the afternoon sun was beginning to sink toward the horizon.

The first steps of his business had officially begun.

And this time—

He had the resources to make it work.
