Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

The office was empty, but the city outside pulsed with life. Neon lights reflected off the glass, casting long streaks across the floor and walls. Kaito Yamazaki sat at his desk, the faint glow of his laptop illuminating his sharp features. He should have been working, finishing reports, preparing for tomorrow's presentation. But he wasn't thinking about work.

Ren Takahashi leaned against the door-frame, holding a folder loosely in one hand, his other hand brushing a loose strand of hair back. "You're still here," he observed, voice casual but carrying an edge. "Thought the legendary Kaito would have called it a night by now."

"I work efficiently," Kaito replied, not looking up. "Distractions are a luxury."

Ren's grin widened. "And yet, here you are… distracted."

Kaito's fingers hesitated over the keyboard, his pulse quickening. "I am not distracted," he said evenly, though his eyes tracked Ren's every movement.

Ren stepped closer, deliberately, closing the small gap between them. "Sure," he said softly. "Let's call it… focus on… productivity."

Their shoulders brushed. The proximity was electric, a magnetism neither had been able to resist since their first clash in the boardroom. Ren's fingers lightly grazed Kaito's wrist as he reached for a pen. A subtle spark shot up Kaito's arm, the kind of heat that made a man who was always in control falter for just a second.

"You're reckless," Kaito said quietly, voice low, controlled. "And infuriating. But…" He paused, inhaling sharply. "…tempting."

Ren's breath hitched. "Tempting, huh?" he whispered, leaning just a fraction closer. "I was going to say the same about you."

The tension hung between them like a storm about to break. Kaito set his laptop aside and stood, closing the final gap. They were close, closer than ever, shoulders almost touching, breath mingling. Neither moved away.

Ren's hand brushed Kaito's chest lightly, almost testing him. Kaito's pulse raced at the contact, and he let his fingers trail over Ren's arm in response. Small, deliberate touches, each one a wordless confession, a challenge, an invitation.

"You know this… can't stay professional," Ren murmured, eyes darkening with a mixture of desire and mischief.

"I know," Kaito admitted, low and firm, hand resting lightly against Ren's waist. "But I… can't resist."

Ren tilted his head, smiling faintly. "Then don't."

The first kiss was slow, testing, hesitant at first, but charged with everything they had been holding back: rivalry, tension, desire. Fingers tangled in hair, hands brushed over backs and shoulders, breaths mingled. It was an exploration, both careful and daring, each move teasing, each touch stoking the heat between them.

Kaito pressed slightly closer, capturing Ren's lips with a deeper, more urgent kiss. Ren responded instantly, tilting his head, letting the kiss deepen. Every barrier they had built, the professionalism, the pride, the rivalry, was melting away in the warmth of proximity.

After a long moment, they broke apart, foreheads resting together, breaths shallow.

"Hot enough for you?" Ren teased softly, though his eyes were smoldering.

"Not even close," Kaito whispered back, tone rough with emotion and desire.

They straightened, hearts racing, but neither moved away. The tension had shifted, no longer just rivalry, no longer just teasing. Desire had taken over, wrapping them in a dangerous, thrilling fire neither wanted to extinguish.

Outside, the city buzzed on, unaware that on the thirty-fifth floor, two men had crossed a line. And neither of them wanted to go back.
