The rain was heavy and it poured since i woke up, i tried to cover myself with a sweater and use an umbrella as a shield but it helped a little due to the cold weather i faced when i walked on Leatherhood streets. I rushed to the bus stop as my watch said alot about me being late for the office, as it has only been two weeks since i got the job. Well i could say it wasn't an easy day for me as the traffic jam was so tight and Jeremy my colleague started to call asking where i was as the meeting will start very soon. Hey!Azra where are you?that's what i heard when i answered Jeremy's call, i will be there soon Jerry i am just held by traffic lights here so i guess after 10 minutes you will see me! Then you better rush as you know how Mr Hume is when someone is late even if it's five seconds, Yeah i know..! I replied with a low voice as i knew how Mr Hume could be.
I reached at the office entrace and i saw a little boy who wants to cross the road in a blink of an eye came a car with a lightening speed, i panicked and rushed towards that little boy and carried him into my embrace squeezing him tightly while jumping away from the coming disaster. I landed on the other side of the road my heart thumping very hard in my chest. The boy whom i took into my embrace was too shocked to even cry or scream as the action happened so fast that he didn't know how he was inside my arms ,for a moment i felt pity and also scared maybe he was hit or had injuries so i rushed to ask, Are you okay little one? Is there any pain you're feeling right now? The boy just blinked but no words came from his mouth. I panicked as many thoughts scrambled into my head and asked again, where are your parents? Why are you alone in the middle of the road?
Mean while people gathered where we were but instead of helping or even asking if we were okay they whispered to each other and stand by watching as if we displayed a drama for them to watch. My knees started to hurt that's when i realised i had several bruises that blood was seen from them, i didn't care about that i just needed to make sure the little boy was safe. Then i heard a voice piercing through the crowd asking, what's going on here? People just stared at him no one responding to the question i stood up cleaning the little boy using my hands as i saw dust in his black pant. The man came close in full speed as he droped few bags he carried in his arms and took the little boy's arm while calling and asking, Sam what's wrong with you? Why are you here? And how did you slip away? The man was so worried and anger evident in his face, that's when the boy started to cry pointing at me without adding up any words.
Woman! What did you do to my nephew? The man shouted and for a moment i felt scared stepping backward he kept shouting, why aren't you even talking? Are you deaf or mute? I tried to respond but words were caught in my throat i didn't even dare try to blink. Sir! Came another voice calling the man, am sorry sir we didn't see young master Sam getting away ! The man didn't even looked at him he was throwing eye daggers at me! Call the police right now! Shouted the man, the other man was confused as to why his boss wanted him to call the police meanwhile young master Sam was there in his hands looking fine, well i guess that's what looks like, he stood there contemplating when he heard his boss' words, what? Are you a statue now? Didn't you hear what i just said? Or you wanna get fired this instant? The man scratched his neck while scrambled to get his phone from the trouser pocket.
Thats when i came to my senses feeling the gravity of the whole situation, wait! I shouted and the man stopped dialing the police's number immediately looking at me, i panicked and said, i didn't do anything bad! I was hel, shut your mouth! Shouted the man who stood beside the little boy and said again, i asked the damned question at first but you didn't care to answer and now you wanna spout lies you cooked in your mind for few moments that you stayed silent?the man continued, Let me tell you one thing, you hurt my nephew to an extent that he cries like this! I assure you will rot in jail and you will know how it is a bad omen to touch and hurt my dear nephew, i felt helpless people who were there didn't say anything they just stayed silent. And you! Shouted the man angrily to his subordinate point a finger at him, who is your boss? The man replied with a trembling voice, it is you sir! Then why did you stop calling the police instead you keep standing there disobeying my orders?
Without another reply the other man called the police mean while the little boy kept crying nonstop, i really wished the little boy to speak for me but nothing of that sort happened and i knew talking further to this man whom i discovered was the little boy's uncle was a futile attempt as i knew he wouldn't listen. The Police patrol car came into view after ten minutes and came out two officers What happened in here? Asked one officer, the surbodinate replied, well officer i called so as to take this girl for an investigation as she was seen with my young master Sam meanwhile the boy crying so we assume this girl has done something to the little young master Sam, when the police officer looked on the direction of that little boy they moved forward rushing to greet the other man standing beside the little boy
Good day Mister Kingsley! Greeted the other officer while the first police officer jumped to another string of words, I didn't know we could meet here, the man replied in an icy tone, am not here to exchange pleasantly!Just arrest this girl here and take her to a police station already! From where i stood i saw how the police officers had sweat on their foreheads and they turned to me saying, ma'am you are under arrest! With a firm tone said one officer while the othe one took my hands locking them together, i tried to say something but the police officers didn't care for whatever i had to say , they just followed the orders.
