Chapter 2 - Channel 00

It all started when I bought that old CRT television at a flea market. I only needed it for my retro consoles, but one night, while trying to tune the signal, I stumbled upon Channel 00.

The screen didn't show the usual static "snow." Instead, there was a black-and-white video feed, filmed from a high, fixed angle. It showed a narrow, filthy hallway with wallpaper that seemed to pulse.

At first, I thought it was some kind of avant-garde video art experiment. But then I noticed a detail: at the end of the hallway was a red door. My red door. The one leading to my storage closet.

I laughed, convinced it was an elaborate prank by some hacker friend. Then, a figure began to drift across the screen. It was tall—impossibly tall—with arms that reached almost to its knees and a face that looked like a mask of melting wax. It moved with nerve-wracking slowness, dragging something metallic across the floor.

Scrape. Scrape. Scrape.

The sound wasn't just coming from the TV speakers. It was coming from the hallway behind me.

I froze. I looked at the screen: the figure was now halfway down the hall. I looked toward my actual hallway: it was empty, lit only by the bluish glow of the TV. But when I shifted my eyes back to the screen, the creature was closer.

Then, the horror of the situation hit me: the TV wasn't broadcasting the present. It was broadcasting the next minute.

On the screen, the figure stopped exactly in front of my armchair. It leaned toward the camera—or rather, toward me. It opened a mouth that was far too wide and whispered something that made the picture tube vibrate.

I switched off the TV. I pulled the plug. But the screen didn't go dark. It stayed on, showing me the figure as it reached out a clawed hand toward the back of my neck.

In 그 instant, I felt a glacial breath on my collar and smelled the scent of ozone and rotting meat.

Never look behind the empty frequencies. Some channels don't broadcast images; they broadcast invitations.
