Maya's POV
Five days. That's how long I'd been practically living at Platinumshield Medical Center, and my body was starting to rebel against the routine I'd forced upon it.
Every morning started the same way. My alarm would go off at dawn, and I'd immediately reach for the sleeve of crackers Penny had strategically placed on my nightstand. The morning sickness hit like clockwork now, a queasy reminder of the tiny life growing inside me. A quick shower, then I'd race through the city streets to make it to the hospital before the medical team began their rounds.
The hallways had become as familiar as my own apartment. I knew which vending machine had the best coffee, which nurses would sneak me an extra blanket, and exactly how many steps it took to get from the elevator to room four-twelve. My world had shrunk to these sterile corridors, and I was exhausting myself trying to be everywhere Sebastian needed me to be.
