The Sterling family jet soared above Northridge's rolling landscape, and the surreal reality of technically owning this luxury aircraft still felt impossible to accept. Penelope had no such reservations about our new circumstances.
"Tell me again why you're still throwing money at that shoebox apartment?" she demanded, stretching across the pristine white leather seat while the flight attendant refilled her champagne flute. "Because honestly, Zo, this whole setup is completely insane." She swept her arm toward the opulent cabin interior. "This is next-level living."
"Penny, lower your voice," I hissed, despite knowing the crew was professionally trained to ignore passenger conversations.
"Why should I?" She laughed without restraint. "You basically own this incredible machine and you treat it like some random Uber ride."
"I don't own a single thing here," I corrected her sharply. "Everything belongs to Sebastian."
