Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

— Adem POV —

I took a deep breath as I took a good look at Godolkin. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but this certainly wasn't it.

Godolkin University, or God U., looked just like any other University.

If I didn't know any better I would assume this was just a common state college.

"Oh well, I am sure there is far more to this school than meets the eye." I mumbled before walking towards the dormitory. As a freshman, it was mandatory for me to stay there, not that I'm complaining. My parents' house, while nice, is in a different state and I do not want to fly every morning. Plus can't get my place as sponsorship money hasn't come yet either so I am kinda broke.

I shook my head as I entered the dorms. I passed through the metal detector and the security guard gave me the stink eye. Not sure what was the point of having a security guard in a superhero academy but I wasn't going to make a big deal about it.

"Hey freshman!" I heard a guy's voice. I turned in the voices direction and saw a guy I had never seen before, "Mandatory consent seminar at 5 in the common area, don't be late."

I nodded my head before noticing a guy making out with another in the hallway, which wasn't that strange. What was strange is the fact that one of their heads turned into a golden retriever's and they continued making out.

I couldn't help but scowl at that sight. Be gay if you want, but the animal fetish is very- very weird if you ask me. I picked up the pace and walked towards my dorm room at brisk speed. On my way, I saw a couple students doing drugs, while most appeared to be mostly harmless weed, at least two girls were crushing pills and snorting them.

I could not believe my eyes. This was supposed to be a hero academy, and they were doing drugs - hard drugs - in the open.

*Sigh* 'Calm down. They must be performance arts majors' I reasoned. After all, this wasn't just a school for future heroes, but also for other supes who wanted to enter Vought's entertainment department or even get a regular degree.

I cleared my head from unnecessary thoughts as I entered my room. There was already a guy, settling in.

It was an Indian guy, standing at 5'7 (170 cm), he was very fit, and quite good looking. He looked kinda familiar.

"Hey, you must be Adem, I'm Tyler, your new roommate." Tyler said as he put up a hand and I shook it.

"Hi Tyler, nice to meet you." I said with a small smile on my face. Tyler seemed like a nice enough guy.

"I took the bed by the window, hope it's alright." he said and I nodded

"It's cool, I wanted the bed closer to the door." I said as I threw my bags on top of my new bed. "This might be an odd thing to ask, but have I seen you somewhere before?"

He grinned at that question, "you might have seen me if you are into Bollywood movies."

'Bollywood? Isn't that Indian Hollywood? They make some of the goofiest shit. Best to watch drunk but if you are sober, there are like a handful of movies worth watching.' Were my thoughts on Bollywood, but I did not say it out loud, instead I gave a small, courteous nod. "I only really watched a few Bollywood films. 3 Idiots was pretty good," I said off handingly and the grin on his face grew.

"That was actually the first film I starred in. I was the kid that walked through the wall," he said and my eyes widened ever so slightly.

The movies in this world and my original differ somewhat, but most movies were quite similar with minor differences on account of super humans living amongst the populace.

"Really now? So that's your power? You can turn intangible?" I asked, getting him to nod,

"That, and I am pretty strong, even for a Supe." He said as he did a front double bicep pose.

I chuckled a little.

"What about you?" He asks and I slowly levitate off the ground.

"You know, classic Flying Brick package. Plus, I have heat vision, and super senses." I said with a shrug, causing his eyes to widen.

"What?! That's like- that's- you are basically a mini Homelander. You are a shoe in for a city contract then." He said and I chuckled.

"Maybe,"

City contracts are special. Not every Supe gets one, only the most famous and powerful ones have a chance at it.

Major cities contract a specific hero to be their guardian, operating primarily from their city, saving lives, promoting events, and giving a piece of the pie from merchandise sales to boost the economy of the city.

Although they are very lucrative for both the city and the Supe, I don't think I want one. It comes with a lot of restrictions to the Supe.

"What about you? Are you interested in a City Contract?" I asked.

"Yeah." He said without hesitation "I'm going to graduate in Top 10, and going to get myself one of those contracts, before making my way up all the way into the Seven."

"Who knows? Translucent isn't getting any younger. You might replace him. Unless I beat you to it." I said with a small smile, which he returned.

"Heh. Hey, speaking of Translucent, I heard his kid is starting Godolkin this year. Apparently has the same powers as his dad."

"That's pretty cool," I said with a nod. Translucent was pretty much the Martian Manhunter of the Seven, although he was by far the most downgraded version possible. He lacked all the powers of Martian Manhunter besides durability and Invisibility which weren't that hard to overcome if you knew how.

"So Adem, wanna go see the Top 10?"

(AN: MC is not a famous hero, most Supes do hero gig since they are 5 or 6 year old kids and amass a following and accomplishments. MC awakened his powers at 17, and barely managed to get a hold of them before entering Godolkin, the only reason he is not being pushed out of hero work like Marie was is for a simple reason. He is strong.)
