Chapter 48 - Chapter 052

Back at the Karma Taj Hotel, Diwan was still worried about Carl.

After all, his behavior earlier had been extremely strange.

"It's okay… why are you like this all of a sudden? You've never had such a temper before."

Diwan held Carl's hand, asking repeatedly.

Carl embraced her, giving her a comforting hug, and whispered in her ear, "Don't worry. As my memories return, my personality will recover too. Just trust me—no matter what version of me you see, it's still me."

What could Diwan say? She could only nod in his arms.

——–

Seven days later, Carl was preparing to leave for Vienna.

Diwan still felt uneasy, wanting to accompany him.

Carl refused. "Stay here. I won't be gone long, and I'll contact you if anything happens."

Diwan pouted. "Fine… just make sure you come back quickly."

Carl lowered his head and kissed her lips. "I'm leaving now."

"Bang!"

The ground cracked, and Carl disappeared before Diwan's eyes.

Across Vienna, journalists from all over the world had gathered at the International Center.

"At a special UN session, 117 countries have officially signed and ratified the World Accord…"

"The purpose of this meeting is to enlist the Avengers, as well as the highly publicized former Superman, Al Carl."

"Will Superman appear today? We need him to explain his actions at this meeting."

…

Throughout the construction and planning of the International Conference Center, everything was linked to Carl.

Everything connected back to incidents targeting him.

"Superman's powers shouldn't exist; he disrupts the balance of the world. Violence is increasing, and sanctions must not be relaxed."

"While the matter is under investigation, we do not believe Superman is a murderer—there must be a reason behind this."

"Whatever the reason, he is already considered a killer. This meeting was originally meant to bind monsters like him."

"We don't know if he'll show up."

"He will. Iron Man himself confirms it."

…

At the conference, leaders from 117 countries discussed the matter, each with their own opinions.

Natasha represented the Avengers, while Colonel Rhodes could not attend—he didn't even need to sign, being a national representative.

Although Tony agreed to the signing, he did not plan to attend such meetings, which had become routine.

Illusions didn't match reality, so they were absent.

Wanda and Vision felt disappointed when they heard the news about Carl, as did those who reported it.

Outsiders didn't know Carl's true power or whether he intended to kill anyone, so they assumed he was innocent and had no intention of signing the agreement again.

Through the glass wall, T'Challa observed the journalists below, then glanced at the politicians debating upstairs.

When Natasha entered, she greeted a familiar official with practiced poise.

T'Challa approached. "This matter isn't simple."

Natasha turned to see him. "When the Accord was introduced, it wasn't simple either. Lately, I feel like this situation has aged me a lot!"

T'Challa smiled. "You still look young."

His smile softened as he looked at Natasha. "Will Superman really come this time?"

Natasha's smile faded, worry evident. "That's why I feel aged—this matter is clearly a setup…"

"That's not important. They just need a warning. A warning for you. That's the remedy," T'Challa interrupted.

Curious, she asked, "I heard only three Avengers are signing? Didn't you have more than ten?"

Natasha looked a little down. The Avengers had changed—she wasn't even sure it should still be called the Avengers.

E'Shan said, "Other members chose retirement. I want to retire too."

T'Challa understood and patted Natasha's shoulder apologetically.

At that moment, his father, King T'Chaka, arrived. "Never think the worst. We don't know what the future holds."

T'Challa nodded. "Yes, Father."

Natasha turned to see the white-haired King T'Chaka. "King T'Chaka, I apologize for what happened in Nigeria."

Months ago, Hulk had pursued Ultron in Nigeria, nearly destroying a small town—a fact beyond dispute.

King T'Chaka smiled. "Thank you, and also for agreeing to our proposal. It's a pity Captain Rogers couldn't attend the signing."

Natasha smiled. "I apologize as well…"

"Please take your seats. The meeting will now begin."

The significance of the Accord had changed. Before Carl's incident, it was presented by the King of Wakanda.

Now, the atmosphere was serious.

The previous discussions hadn't appeared, leaving attendees pale, beads of sweat forming on their faces.

Outside, a blue figure in a cloak swayed in the wind.

Carl arrived as the meeting began.

He hovered above, watching the attendees without entering—he wanted to see how they would react.

"How dare he come."

"Why hasn't he entered?"

…

Some officials whispered to each other, losing the previous sense of excitement.

Carl remained silent outside, yet the invisible pressure made everyone in the room hold their breath.

No one dared to speak first.

King T'Chaka approached the podium. Adjusting to face Carl, he spoke.

"Mr. Carl, thank you for saving the people of Nigeria."

He bowed slightly. "Regarding the alleged murder involving Mr. Carl a few days ago, we have investigated. The footage is authentic, but no information on the victims was found. Therefore, the warrants have been temporarily withdrawn."

T'Challa stood by the glass, watching Carl carefully, ready to intervene.

King T'Chaka smiled. "Mr. Carl, please respect the UN Assembly and sign this Accord. It will show everyone that we trust each other."

Carl looked around the room and suddenly smiled. "It seems someone doesn't like me. What now?"

The attendees speculated whether he planned not to sign.

Several officials stood to question him, but Carl turned and looked into the distance.

Across the sky, a streak of fire was heading toward them.

The seasoned officials were shocked.

"Move out!"

"Everyone, get out of here!"

"Who ordered this?"

…

T'Challa grabbed his father, King T'Chaka, and ran out.

Passing Natasha, he saw her still standing, staring blankly.

He took her hand. "Move! If you hesitate, you won't be able to escape."

Natasha turned calmly. "Why are we leaving?"

Then she looked at Carl outside. "He's here!"

T'Challa paused, noticing Carl. His father was panicking, barely breathing.

She helped her father sit. "Do you trust him?"

Natasha raised an eyebrow, smiling. "For him, this is a minor matter. No rush."

Carl stood motionless outside, waiting quietly for the incoming missile carrying a nuclear warhead.

He looked back at Natasha and the Wakandan king and prince inside the room.

"This is a 500-kiloton nuclear warhead. Aren't you running?" Carl taunted.

Natasha smiled. "You said 500 kilotons, but we have to run over four kilometers in thirty seconds. Too late now!"

"You all really should have discussed this properly in a meeting!"

Carl glanced at King T'Chaka, then turned toward the incoming nuclear missile.
