Chapter 13 - Friends? (Power Stone Bonus Chapter)

I was confused by Thor's sudden declaration of friendship, but I decided to go along with it.

Thinking a little deeper, the Thor in front of me right now was the shitty arrogant Thor who hadn't been through any character development yet. He was a simple meatheaded guy, to say the least.

Since I was the only one thus far to actually recognise him for what he was, that was apparently enough for him to call me a friend.

To be honest, it seemed entirely nonsensical, but I guess this was how Loki managed to fool him so many times throughout his life.

Despite that, I wasn't about to deny his declaration, so I went along with it.

For a while afterwards, Thor went on about how he had confronted the dastardly frost giants, now having believed that I wasn't a frost giant since 'there's no way a frost giant would have the bravery to sit and eat with him.'

Anyway, he gave me a retelling of the story I already knew, although it came from his own arrogant and brash perspective.

"Can you believe it? Truly, in his old age, my father has started to go mad." He explained, unbothered by the several stares from other diner patrons.

I said very little, merely nodding my head, which Thor seemed to interpret as some kind of respect.

As Thor's rambling continued, I took note of the others' expressions. Eric Selvig held a pitiful gaze, suggesting he was looking at a mental patient. Darcy was simply entertained, and Jane seemed frustrated at the fruitless conversation.

This continued until two local men walked into the diner, loudly talking about what they had seen in the morning.

"The usual, please, Izzy" One said towards the diner staff.

"You missed all the excitement out at the crater."

"Sayin' some kinda satellite landed out in the desert."

"Yeah, we were havin' a good time with it... Until the feds showed up."

Naturally, their conversation garnered all our attention. Jane, curious as ever, immediately asked about the so called sattellite crash.

"Excuse me, were you talking about a satellite crash?"

"Yeah."

Foster looked to Selvig with raised eyebrows, and Selvig continued with another question.

"What did it look like, the satellite?" He asked, with a cautious tone.

"Well, I don't know anything 'bout satellites, but... it was heavy, I mean, nobody could lift it."

At this, Thor's ears perked up. Even if he was as dumb as rocks right now, there was no way he wouldn't be able to recognise the characteristics of his own hammer.

Without hesitation, he stood up and strolled over to the men, tapping one of them on the shoulder and asking with a serious tone.

"Which way?"

The men seemed slightly nervous at the sudden, heavy demeanour of the physically imposing Thor.

"Oh...uh, fifty miles west of here."

Thor left the restaurant at his words, most likely intending to walk the full fifty miles on foot if he had to.

"But I wouldn't waste my time, looked like the whole army was comin' when we left."

As Thor walked out onto the street, he recklessly strode on into the traffic, entirely unaware of human norms.

'...Well, it's not really a matter of human norms, even a caveman would know not to get in the way of a one-tonne metal chariot.'

In other words, Thor was still walking around with the swagger of a man who believed he held the strength of a god.

Foster got up first, chasing after him into the street, and I was left with Eric Selvig and Darcy, who awkwardly looked at me.

"So like, are you also crazy?"

I didn't bother answering her question; instead getting up to follow the couple. Selvig and Darcy quickly followed suit.

Outside, I overheard Thor and Jane arguing. Thor declared his intent to go grab his hammer as if it were the most normal thing in the world; his brazeness confusing Jane.

As we three laggards grouped up with the two, Thor paused his walk, taking on a more focused tone towards Foster.

"If you take me there now, I'll tell you everything you wish to know."

"Everything?" Jane asked him, genuinely seeming to believe he could answer her questions.

"Yes, all the answers you seek will be yours once I reclaim Mjolnir."

"Myemye? What's myemye?" Darcy asked, confused.

Nobody particularly paid attention to Darcy's comment.

"Can I have a word, Jane?" Selvig asked politely, jutting into the conversation, whilst walking slightly to the side to be out of earshot.

Thus, I was left with Thor.

"Friend, it doesn't seem like I'll be receiving any assistance from them."

"That does seem to be the case." I responded blandly, not offering him any particular advice.

I turned to look at them whilst putting on a pair of sunglasses.

Activating my Sharingan, I easily lipread the back and forth between Selvig and Foster.

Please don't do this.

You saw what I saw last night. This is no coincidence; we have to find out what's in that crater.

But I'm not talking about the crater, I'm talking about him and his 'friend'.

But he's promising us answers.

But they're delusional. Listen to what they're saying, they're talking about Thor and Mjolnir and Bifrost, it's the stories I grew up with as a child.

I'm just gonna drive him, that's it!

They're both dangerous, Jane!

After hearing her mentor's resolute statement, Foster came back to both of us with a disappointed expression.

"I'm sorry, but I can't take you." She relayed.

"Then this is where we say goodbye," Thor said, taking Foster's hand.

Foster seemed confused by what he was doing, but before saying anything, Thor kissed the back of her hand, causing her to react in a flustered manner.

"Uh, uhm... Thank you?" She said with a genuine smile.

'Wait, damn, should I be taking notes here? Fuck! Is this his divine rizz?'

Although I had no interest in forming a relationship with her, I couldn't deny how attractive Jane was, yet Thor seemed to have rather easily turned her into a blushing teenager.

Getting back on track, Thor looked at the researcher trio and bid them farewell.

It was an awkward parting, with them leaving rather suddenly, though Selvig seemed happy to be out of Thor's trouble. Foster did turn her head back at us, but she continued walking.

"Alright, my friend! So, you'll be the one taking me, yes?"

I looked at Thor with my jaw slightly hung open upon hearing his utterly shameless request.

"Bro?"
