Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: First trip to another world

Rito was sitting on his bed, observing the familiar yet strange room around him.

As a tired yawn escaped his mouth, suddenly, a light blue screen appeared in front of him.

[Congratulations, Yuuki Rito. You have been selected by the Success System.]

Rito stared at the screen for a few seconds, wondering whether he should be afraid or not.

Finally, after a while, he decided to simply trust it.

"Thank you."

[...]

[Is that your entire reaction?]

"I suppose I'm still a bit confused. A second ago I was in my house and now I woke up in this unfamiliar place."

[That's correct. Believe it or not, this is not your world.

You were chosen by the Success System for being someone who never managed to achieve true success, despite all the hard work he put in.

You have been brought to this world, where you will take the place of the Yuuki Rito of this dimension and reach the peak of your life.]

"...But wasn't I quite successful?" Rito asked, confused.

[...]

[Were you?]

The system seemed to fall silent for a moment.

"Well, I don't know what you consider success, but I consider my life quite successful. My parents made good investments and when I turned fifteen, we became millionaires. Since then, I've had everything I ever wanted."

[...]

[...That sounds quite successful.]

[Are you sure you're Yuuki Rito?]

"Yuuji Rito, actually" Rito corrected calmly.

[...]

[I'll be right back.]

With those words, the light blue screen disappeared, leaving Rito staring into empty space.

"So... I reincarnated? To think I only had one year to enjoy the wealth," he muttered after a while.

Looking at his body, he noticed he seemed to be about sixteen years old, the same age as in his previous life. In fact, he looked exactly the same as before, but without seeing his face he couldn't be completely sure.

He wanted to look for a mirror to check whether his appearance had changed or remained the same, but without knowing where he was, he decided to wait for the system to return and continue explaining the situation before doing anything.

"I hope it doesn't take too long," he sighed, lying back down on the bed.

[Host, I'm back!] the system announced about ten minutes later.

[You have nothing to worry about. Although there was an error and you were selected by mistake, based on the company motto, "The more chaos, the better," you will keep the system.]

[Congratulations!.]

"...Thank you?" Rito repeated.

[That reaction again? Shouldn't you be more excited? You are about to embark on an adventure whose destination could be anything you imagine.]

"More importantly" Rito replied, ignoring the system's excessive enthusiasm, "earlier you said Yuuki Rito. Am I in To Love Ru?"

[That's right!]

"You don't have to express everything with so much excitement."

[Alright.]

"So, what am I doing here?" Yuuji asked, satisfied with the system's new attitude.

[I will explain.

The system is here to help you achieve total success in your life, money, fame, women, whatever you desire.

Your duty is to complete missions or accomplish feats that will allow you to obtain tickets for the Chaos Gacha.]

"That sounds very complicated."

[It's not, it's quite simple. You have one main mission, achieve success in the path you choose. In addition, there will be secondary missions related to other aspects of your life, though always linked to success.

For now, choose a route before I continue explaining:

-Financial Success.

-Romantic Success.

-Social Success.

-Individual Success.

-Powerful Success.

-Success...]

Rito looked over the list, but only read the first five names. Seeing that it continued for dozens more, he decided to choose the simplest option.

"Let's go with financial success. Money is always useful, right?"

[Are you sure?]

"Sure."

[Decision confirmed. Generating main mission…]

[Main Mission - Financial Route (1): Create your first business. Reward: Silver Ticket.]

"Those Tickets are the reward? What do I do with them?"

[With Tickets you can participate in the Chaos Gacha, from which you can obtain items, habilities and skills from across the Omniverse. The higher the ticket rank, the greater the chances of obtaining a powerful reward.

Additionally, completing missions or accomplishing feats will also grant you tickets depending on their difficulty.]

"Feats? Like what?"

[You were accidentally chosen by a multiversal system. Congratulations! You have achieved a great feat!

Reward: Platinum Ticket.]

"What is this?"

[It is a reward for a feat, and at the same time an apology for the mistake made. In addition to the platinum ticket, you receive one gold, one silver and one bronze ticket as a beginner's gift.

It may be somewhat difficult to understand at first, so why don't you use them and see for yourself?]

Rito thought about it for a moment and decided to simply go with the flow.

"Alright."

He expected a roulette wheel to appear in front of him, but to his surprise, it did not. The system simply used the tickets and announced the rewards, skipping the entire process, which made Rito suspect that the system might be manipulating the results.

[You have used a Platinum Ticket. You have obtained the skill: Master Management.]

[Master Management

Epic Skill

You are a master of management. You can easily manage tasks, people, assets, finances, distribution of tasks, and just about anything needed to manage a large group such as a company or even a country. You can also freely split your attention between tasks seamlessly, almost like parallel processing. You can increase your mastery even further by training and experience.]

[Amazing! You're very lucky, this will be very useful for achieving financial success.]

The system explained the ability with obvious excitement.

Rito, on the other hand, frowned slightly.

"That's it? And where's the dramatic roulette?"

[We cannot display the roulette. The rewards are almost infinite, they would not fit in any visible format] the system explained, its robotic voice sounding slightly embarrassed.

"So you just tell me what I got... how boring. Whatever, use the other tickets."

[You have used a Gold Ticket. You have obtained the hability: Wind Flight.]

[You have used a Silver Ticket. You have obtained the hability: Deafness.]

[You have used a Bronze Ticket. You have obtained the hability: Project Image.]

[Wind Flight

Rare Ability

Allows you to push off of the air around you, allowing you to fly with precision and power.]

[Deafness

Uncommon Ability

Allows you to inflict a curse on your opponents, once applied it blocks off their sense of hearing. You can place a curse on someone through touch or throwing a hex, a moderately fast projectile that looks like a rune, duration depends on the target's magic resistance and can be applied permanently on targets who cannot resist.]

[Project Image

Common Ability

Allows you to conjure 2d planes that show images or play a video that you can remember or imagine accurately. The 2d planes created are stationary and are as durable as 1cm of untempered glass.]

Rito listened to the full descriptions and sighed.

"Aren't most of them kind of useless? Why would I want to make someone deaf? What do I need to project images for? At least flying sounds fun."

Although flying was incredible, the fact that he did it by manipulating air instead of it being a more direct superpower took away some of the excitement.

Even so, flying is flying, and Rito felt a bit excited.

As soon as he received the abilities, Rito felt a wave of warmth run through his body along with the basic understanding of how to use them entering directly into his mind. He did not become an expert, but he understood the fundamental principles, and with practice he could master them easily.

Rito focused and the air around him began to move, slightly shaking nearby objects.

Little by little, his body started to rise from the bed very slowly.

"...It's not that hard?" he muttered in surprise.

But he soon understood the reason, he had to control force, direction and pressure independently in each part of his body. If the force was not balanced, he would lose stability.

Something that would normally require a lot of practice until he got used to doing it almost automatically.

But thanks to the newly acquired Master Management, he could divide his attention and handle multiple variables at the same time without mentally collapsing.

It did not turn him into an expert immediately, but it made the process much easier.

With nothing else to do, Rito spent half a day practicing.

When he finally felt ready, he looked at the window and jumped toward it nervously.

He immediately began to fall.

"This was a bad idea..." he muttered as he fell at high speed.

Luckily, halfway through the fall he managed to stabilize himself and float, then rise into the air.

Rito ascended above the luxurious apartment he was in and kept climbing higher and higher, until the houses below looked like ants.

The sight of the city stretching beneath him, the wind hitting his face and the emotions accumulated since his sudden reincarnation made him lose himself and shout at the top of his lungs:

"Aaaaaahhhh!"

Only after a long while flying above the city did Rito descend again.

[You have flown over the city. You have achieved a small feat and earned a Bronze Ticket.]

However, the notification was overshadowed by the system's excited voice.

[Host, thank God you have feelings. Because of your lack of reaction I thought you had no emotions. The path to success for someone like that would be very boring.]

'Do systems believe in God?' Rito thought, but out loud he answered something else.

"It's not that I don't have emotions... I've just been told I'm a bit lazy."
