Chapter 2 - awakening

"My head… it fucking hurts."

I struggled to focus as my mind was flooded with fragments of memories I couldn't understand. Every attempt to concentrate only made the pain worse.

It felt as if someone had taken a hammer and was repeatedly smashing it against the inside of my skull.

"Damn it…" i rubbed my temples, desperately trying to ease the pounding headache, but nothing worked.

After what felt like an eternity, the pain slowly faded.

Leaving behind… nothing.Just an empty void in my mind.

I slowly opened my eyes.

The first thing I saw was the ceiling above my head and immediately I re.arked something wasn't right.

"…What the?"

The words slipped out of my mouth as I stared at it in confusion.

Strange symbols were carved into the surface. Some of them looked like ancient words, while others resembled crude drawings or unfinished sketches.

"What kind of ceiling is this…?"

I raised my head slightly to take a better look. That was when I suddenly realized something.

This wasn't my bed.

The bed I was lying in was massive—easily twice the size of a normal bed. Calling it king-sized wouldn't even begin to describe it.

The mattress was unbelievably soft, almost like I was sinking into clouds. A faint pleasant scent drifted from the sheets.

But that wasn't the important part. The important part was that this wasn't my room.

"What the hell is going on…?"

I slowly sat up and looked around.

The room was enormous.

No—enormous wasn't even the right word.

Five large windows lined one of the walls, each covered with thick velvet curtains that looked incredibly expensive.

Everything inside the room screamed luxury.

The polished wooden furniture.

The ornate decorations.

The giant bed.

Even the carpet beneath my feet looked like something you would find in a five-star palace rather than a normal apartment.

'Okay… calm down.'

I took a deep breath.

There was absolutely no way I could afford a place like this.

I was just a regular employee at a gaming company. My salary wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't good enough to rent something like this.

Unless…

"Don't tell me I got drunk last night…"

I frowned.

No.

That wasn't possible.

I rarely drank, and even if I did, how would I end up in a place like this?

Something didn't add up.

I stood up from the bed, deciding to figure out what kind of mess I had gotten myself into—and more importantly, how much money this room was going to cost me.

As I walked across the room, I passed by a small desk.

A mirror stood on top of it.

And that was when it happened.

My reflection hit me like a punch to the face.

My heart skipping a beat as I looked more at my réflection.

"Who…?"

I froze.

"…Who the hell is that?"

The person staring back at me from the mirror was not me.

Not even close

.

My mind struggled to process what I was seeing.

Dark tawny hair,brown eyes,clear skin.

A youthful face that looked… ridiculously handsome.

The body itself was in excellent shape—not overly muscular, but lean and athletic.

The kind of body a seventeen-year-old with good genetics might have.

"Seventeen…"

Wait.

How did I know that?

My breath became uneven.

"This… this isn't me."i knew exactly what I looked like before.

And I definitely didn't look like this.

To be honest… compared to my previous appearance, this guy would probably be extremely popular with girls.

"…What the hell happened to me?"

Knock knock.

My thoughts were abruptly interrupted by someone knocking on the door.

Of course.

My luck couldn't possibly be worse.I wake up in someone else's body and immediately have to talk to someone who probably knows the original owner.

Great.Just great.

"What's the worst that could happen?" I muttered to myself.

Maybe I would say something wrong.

Maybe they would realize I wasn't the real person.

Maybe they would assume I was possessed and burn me alive like a witch.

"…Okay, that last one is ridiculous."I sighed.

"This isn't the medieval era."

Another knock echoed through the room.

Knock. Knock. Knock.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming!"

I walked toward the door, already feeling annoyed.

When I opened it, I was greeted by the sight of a young girl.

She looked about the same age as the body I was currently in.

And judging by the expression on her face…

She was extremely irritated.

Her eyes scanned me from head to toe as if she was evaluating something.

'What did this guy do to make her so angry…?'

"Do you even know what time it is?" she asked sharply.

I didn't answer.

Mostly because…

I had absolutely no idea what time it was.

Hell, I didn't even know who I was right now.

The time was the least of my problems.

"Edward, don't ignore me like that," she snapped.

'Edward'.

So that was my name.Or rather… the name of the person whose body I had stolen.

It was a previous information to me because not knowing my name could be a little troublesome.

And I was sure I will need it if I needed to pretend who I was this person.

"Do you have any idea what kind of mess you put me in with His Majesty?"she said with frustration.

"Because of you, I had to serve her when it was supposed to be your job!"

She crossed her arms angrily.

"That woman was insufferable! She kept comparing me to you every single time I made even the smallest mistake."

I blinked slowly.

My brain was still trying to catch up with everything happening.

'Edward. His Majesty.Serving someone. Don't tell me I got reincarnated or some bullshit like that.'

'Even if it was cool I still liked my old life I was not a loser like in those kid show or whatever they were called.'

"Edward" I got interrupted in my thoughts as the girl was still looking at me with irritation.

"Tonight is important for you and his majesty both of you are going to attend the art awakening ceremony so prepare yourself and don't mess up okay?"

I just nodded my head making clear I understood her. Seeing this she turned and walked away not adding anything much.

After closing the door I pressed my back on it and slowly sinking to sit on the floor.

"How could this be happening to me what the hell did I do to be thrown in the body if someone else"

Even if I wanted to complain more I knew that doing it while not get me anywhere.

So I looked at the bedroom again clearly seeing how good the bedroom was arranged it was clear that the boy liked order.

'Art awakening ceremony' those word stayed in my head because I was sure I have heard them somewhere but I brought the idea aside because I couldn't be sure.

Well maybe if I looked around I could see answer to what I wanted.

Note:well just so you know the first chapter could be a little slow since I discovered I'm bad at pacing so be aware. And Don forget tell me what wrong with the novel
