(BLUE'S POV)
My thumb moved once along the arm of the throne.
'She's inside,' Victor continued. 'And she's not alone. There's a priestess dressed in black and red, and twelve women. All wearing red and masks. They're praying, Dad. Each of them is holding a bowl, and there's a lot of blood in them.'
'And Vera?'
'She's wearing a red dress. Standing at the front of the line, conducting the ritual.' Victor paused. When he spoke again, there was something rough in his voice. 'She looks like a bride, Dad.'
Interesting.
'Don't spook her. Don't touch her, speak to her, or let her see you. You are my eyes and nothing else. Watch Vera. Watch the priestess. Count the exits, and tell me immediately if anything changes.'
'Yes, Dad.'
'I'm coming.' I closed the link and looked beyond the demon still suspended in the air, beyond the nobles scattered across the floor, and past my own people.
My gaze settled on Jasper.
