Chapter 2 - Start of the Journey

I stood against Koro Sensei with a wooden blade in hand. We stood several meters apart, but the tension was as if we stood less than a foot away. And Rightly so. I swung the sword with all my might in a diagonal slash and activated Axis Jump, appearing right behind him. He swiftly blocked the expected move and immediately went on the offensive.

I knew I had no hope of matching him in combat technique, so I hastily used jump again. But before I could, I had been struck on the chest. I stumbled and vanished, but this time, he had been ready right where I appeared. The Jump happened kind of like the apparition in Harry Potter, so there used to be a half-second delay. But ever since it had reached level 5, the disturbance and delay had been reduced drastically. I expected it to become instantaneous once I hit max.

But I had stumbled, which gave Koro sensei plenty of time to orient himself, resulting in a bone-breaking round-house kick right into my chest. I flew back like a ragdoll and crashed out of the ring.

"Once I block that first move, you become too vulnerable, Jin. Why do you keep insisting on it?"

Before I could say anything, he continued. "I know! I know! You said it will work well with your quirk in the future, but until that so-called development materializes, I suggest you create other counters and fighting styles."

"Yes, Sensei!"

I answered but ignored him by and large, chuckling to myself. Once I get my hands on the Axis Strike, you won't be able to dodge my strike at all.

It had been a year of preparations. I had gotten Axis late. Every child started using his quirk at 4 or 5, while I had started at 10. I could have told them about Brilliant Life, but I had no intention of making the fact that I had dual quirks public.

But this meant that I was behind schedule. And unlike Izuku, I did not have All Might to guide my training. So this local Dojo had to suffice.

"Well, the class is dismissed. See you next time."

The way home was blocked due to some hero villain confrontation. But I didn't give it much thought. Since coming to this world, such things had become far too common. What drew my attention was the giant sludge monster that I could see even from outside the alley. My instincts flared as a very old memory came to mind.

And sure enough, the famous fight that inspired All Might to pass One for all to Izuku occurred. I had been too far away to have seen anything meaningful, but later, during the aftermath, I had confirmed the appearance of Bakugo and Midoriya.

My calculations had been right. I was going to be in the same year as the main cast. Great!

So now I had somewhere around 10 months to complete my training for the UA High Entrance Exam.

8 months later.

I focused hard and then let out a slash with my steel sword. The sword was coated in bluish lightning, and its path manifested into a sharp crescent of lethal power. The blade went through the training dummy like a hot knife through butter. Axis used the power of space itself. It wasn't cutting anymore, but dividing space itself into two parts. The mutilation that the dummy suffered was just a side effect.

I had finally upgraded Axis to max, and now I could wield the space element as a weapon. My arsenal was finally ready. Although I would have liked to get the third quirk before the test, it appears I will miss that by a month.

"Brother! Did you break another dummy?"

"Yes, Yui, I did."

"Dad's gonna scold you."

I scrunched up my nose. "Probably."

She grinned at my response. Petty sibling rivalry at work.

Due to my early maturity, our roles were kind of reversed in the house. Yui acted more like the youngest brat, while I played the part of the diligent elder brother despite being 2 years younger.

"So, you are really applying to the Hero course?"

I paused as I sensed the change in her mood.

"Yeah."

"I heard it is quite dangerous."

"It is."

"Then why are you going?"

"Because I have to and I want to."

"Idiot!"

She stormed off. Yeah, except my father, nobody else really took my path seriously. They had even made me apply for the business track at UA. The Hero's work was glorious but quite risky.

I looked up at my status

Yeah, each level in each quirk made my total level go up. I had six from Brilliant Life and six from Axis

3 months till Creation opens and I become level 13.

2 months till plot starts.

I needed to familiarize myself with this newest addition to my skills. It was called a strike, but it was more of an Endowment. I could imbue my hands, or preferably, a stainless steel blade, to cut a path through space itself. Its chief advantage lied with the fact that since it was space itself that was being severed, what I am cutting didn't matter anymore. Be it man or metal, Everything was to be slashed.

2 months later.

It was finally here. My parents wished me luck as they dropped me off at the exam venue for the infamous school. Students milled about. There was some time until the orientation for the exam started, but I wanted a seat with a good view, so I hurried in early.

It was going to be hard to find any of the main cast in the throng of people that were present. But I was excited, so I decided to try anyway.

My luck wasn't good. The first person I recognized was the kid with the tail. I don't remember his name anymore, but he had blonde hair and a demeanour similar to that of Koro Sensei.

The other guy I recognized was the guy giving the Orientation in a dull, monotonous voice, Shota Aizawa. The man was seriously creepy. His dark circles somehow felt darker than his own pure black t-shirt. His eyes looked tired, and his appearance was somewhat unkempt.

Also, thankfully, the test hadn't changed either.

We still had to score points by destroying robots with 1,2 and 3 points respectively.
