Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Impossible Prediction

The first thing Ethan Zhao did when he woke up was check his phone.

For a moment, he didn't remember why.

Then the memory returned.

The strange messages. The unknown number. The ridiculous claim.

I'm you… ten years in the future.

Ethan groaned and rolled onto his back.

"Yeah, right."

Sunlight pushed through the thin curtains of his apartment. His alarm read 8:52 AM.

He sat up slowly, rubbing his eyes.

The phone was still in his hand.

The conversation was still there.

Every message.

He scrolled up to the last one.

Look at the Bitcoin price tomorrow at 9:30 AM.It will jump exactly 18%.

Ethan snorted.

"Crypto prophets now."

Still…

He opened a market app.

Bitcoin price: $41,200

Nothing unusual.

Ethan tossed the phone onto the bed and stood up.

His tiny apartment looked even worse in the morning light. Empty ramen cups sat beside his laptop, and the stack of unpaid bills on his desk seemed to grow every day.

He walked to the sink and splashed water on his face.

"Focus," he muttered.

Classes started in an hour. He had better things to worry about than weird prank texts.

But ten minutes later…

He was sitting at his desk again.

Watching the market chart.

Waiting.

The clock on his laptop read 9:28 AM.

Ethan leaned back in his chair.

"This is stupid."

Still, his eyes didn't leave the screen.

The seconds ticked by.

9:29 AM.

Nothing.

The price barely moved.

Ethan shook his head.

"Of course."

He reached for the mouse to close the chart.

Then—

The number changed.

$41,200

$41,800

Ethan frowned.

"Huh?"

Another refresh.

$42,300

His chair creaked as he leaned closer.

The price kept climbing.

$43,100

$44,000

"What the—"

The graph shot upward like a rocket.

In less than thirty seconds the price exploded.

$48,600

Ethan stared at the screen.

His brain struggled to process what he was seeing.

The increase percentage appeared beside the chart.

+18.1%

His heart skipped.

"No way."

He grabbed his phone immediately.

The conversation with the unknown number was still open.

Another message appeared.

Right at that moment.

Now you believe me.

Ethan's fingers hovered over the screen.

His mouth suddenly felt dry.

This couldn't be real.

There had to be some explanation.

Maybe the sender worked in finance.

Maybe they had insider information.

Maybe—

The phone vibrated again.

A new message appeared.

You have $214.36 in your account.

Ethan froze.

That was exactly how much money he had left.

The next line appeared.

Invest all of it.

His eyes widened.

Another message arrived immediately.

Buy Bitcoin now.Sell in 6 hours.

Ethan stared at the text.

"Invest… everything?"

His bank account was already a disaster.

If he lost that money, he wouldn't even be able to buy groceries.

But the prediction had been perfect.

Exactly 18 percent.

His eyes moved back to the chart on his laptop.

Bitcoin was still climbing.

His heart began beating faster.

He opened his banking app.

Balance: $214.36

That number suddenly looked very small.

"It's probably luck," Ethan whispered.

Just a coincidence.

People guessed market movements all the time.

But another message appeared.

You asked for proof. This is it.

Ethan leaned back in his chair.

Rain clouds from last night were gone, replaced by a bright blue sky outside his window.

Everything looked normal.

But nothing felt normal anymore.

He stared at the message again.

Invest all of it.

A laugh escaped him.

"All two hundred dollars?"

Still…

If the prediction was real…

His fingers moved slowly across the keyboard.

He opened his crypto trading account.

The screen loaded.

His balance appeared.

$214.36

The market price flashed beside it.

Bitcoin was still climbing.

Ethan's cursor hovered over the Buy button.

His mind raced.

What if this is real?

What if it isn't?

If he did nothing, nothing would change.

He would still be broke tomorrow.

Still rejected.

Still stuck.

But if the message was true…

This could be the beginning of something.

His phone buzzed again.

Another message.

Short.

If you don't trust me…

The second line appeared a moment later.

Stay poor.

Ethan stared at the words.

Then he laughed softly.

"Alright, future me."

His finger moved.

He clicked Buy.

The order executed instantly.

Bitcoin purchased.

Account balance: $0.00

Ethan leaned back in his chair.

"Well…"

He exhaled slowly.

"I guess we'll see."

His phone vibrated again.

Another message arrived.

Good.

Ethan frowned.

The next message appeared.

Now we wait.

He stared at the screen.

"Wait for what?"

For a moment there was no reply.

Then the phone buzzed again.

A final message appeared.

For the moment your life changes forever.

Ethan looked back at the rising market chart.

His heart pounded in his chest.

Maybe this was just luck.

Maybe it was a scam.

Or maybe…

His phone vibrated one more time.

A new message appeared.

Welcome to the beginning.

Ethan didn't realize it yet.

But that $214 gamble would soon become the first step toward building an empire.
