Chapter 308 - Chapter 308 : Excalibur Birth

The moment Sera pulled the sword from the ground, she felt her power surge dramatically, flooding through her body like a raging tidal wave. At the same time, the wounds inflicted by the Blood Curse began to heal. The black lines that had spread throughout her entire body disappeared, her skin returned to its former purity, and the light returned to her eyes.

She raised her head and looked toward the Mother Witch, who was still standing where she was, wavering between shock and disbelief as she watched her sworn enemy rise from beneath the Blood Curse that she had believed to be fatal. Sera then pointed her radiant sword toward her, her voice as sharp as the sword itself, carrying all the anger and pain she felt.

"It is time for you to pay the price, you witch. For the blood of every one of my knights, and for every soul of my kingdom's citizens."

At that very moment, the Mother Witch felt the sensation of deadly danger surrounding her increase tremendously. She did not hesitate for even an instant. She quickly raised both hands and cast a dense, multilayered magical barrier that shimmered with intertwined shades of black and white.

But Sera did not hesitate either. She stepped forward, holding the sword horizontally before her chest. Then she swung it with all her strength while screaming at the top of her voice:

"Ex...calibur!"

A colossal blue wave surged forward, resembling a wall of solid light. It shattered everything in its path, tearing through space with a sharp whistling sound as it rushed toward the Mother Witch. It collided with her barrier, which lasted for no more than a moment before shattering into countless fragments. The attack continued onward until it completely engulfed the Mother Witch's body.

In the final moments of her life, just before her body turned to dust, the Mother Witch smiled peacefully, as though she had been waiting for this moment for a very long time, as though death itself was her salvation. Then she spoke in a voice barely loud enough to be heard:

"I am coming to meet you, my dear."

Then her body vanished, turning to dust before the enormous blue wave, which continued forward and carved through the mountains behind her.

At that moment, after Sera had avenged her kingdom and her followers, she felt nothing but emptiness. A profound emptiness filled her heart. There was no joy in victory, nor even satisfaction. There was only a long silence and the absence of everything that had once filled her life. She stood in the middle of the ruined city, surrounded by the corpses of those she loved, staring at the radiant sword still in her hand and feeling the voices within it. After a long period of silence, she let out a heavy sigh, as though with it she were exhaling every hope of returning to the way things had once been.

Then she looked around at the scattered corpses, at the destruction left behind, and at the city that had once been a beacon at the heart of the Kingdom of the Lake. She spoke in a sorrowful voice, yet one filled with unbreakable determination:

"I will make sure that I bury you in a manner worthy of you. Every one of you will have a grave bearing your name, and every one of you will have a tombstone telling your story, because you deserved more than this fate."

In the period that followed, Sera continued her long task. She began digging the graves one by one, carrying each of her knights and citizens to their final resting place. She dug with her own hands, carefully carried the bodies, placed each one in its grave, then carved their names and details of their lives onto their tombstones. She wrote about their courage and sacrifices, sometimes stopping because a wave of tears overcame her. This process continued for a long time because Sera believed that she owed them this, and that it was the least she could do for those who had died for her.

When she finally finished and looked around, she saw nothing but her kingdom transformed entirely into a sea of tombstones. Every tombstone told the story of a man, a woman, or a child. All of them had lived under her protection, and all of them had died because of her. At that moment, Sera wished she had never founded this kingdom in the first place, that she had never allowed anyone to follow her, and that she had remained alone as she had been in the beginning. Perhaps they would still be alive and living peaceful lives. But it was too late, and there was nothing left for her but to face what had happened.

Then, after thinking for a long time, she decided that she could not leave this place behind, because she felt that if she left them, they would disappear and the names of her knights would be lost to the depths of time. Therefore, she decided to take this entire kingdom, which had been transformed into a massive cemetery, with her, so that she would always remember the foolish decision she had made and never forget the lesson of this tragedy.

This required an immense ability in the field of space, a field that Sera had not mastered deeply. However, she had previously learned its fundamentals from her father, so she began attempting to delve deeper into it and study it.

Six full years after Mordred's betrayal, Sera stood in the center of the enormous cemetery that had once been her kingdom. She raised her hands toward the sky, and a strange gray wave spread across the entire region of the Kingdom of the Lake, resembling thick fog, yet shimmering with a faint silver glow.

Then something extraordinary happened.

The entire kingdom began to disappear, piece by piece, as though it were slipping into another dimension, until it vanished completely from sight. It left behind nothing but an enormous, incredibly deep crater stretching as far as the eye could see, as though a portion of the world itself had been ripped from its place.

And thus, the Kingdom of the Lake became nothing more than a memory in this world.
