Pei Ye glanced at the caller ID, raised her hand in an apologetic gesture, and answered the phone.
"Master Qingxuan, is something the matter?"
The call was from Zhu Chun'an's master, Master Qingxuan. Before he spoke, Pei Ye wondered why he was calling her.
"Bai Jia is dead!" Master Qingxuan's grave, urgent voice came through the phone.
"Dead?" Pei Ye tightened her grip on the phone as countless speculations flashed through her mind. "When did he die? How?"
Bai Jia was tied to a major case and should have been under strict supervision. How could he possibly be dead? Even if Bai Jia had committed suicide to escape punishment, the Heavenly Master Alliance had a partnership with Fengdu. Fengdu would have hooked Bai Jia's soul over. Master Qingxuan's anxiety left only one explanation: Bai Jia was dead, the cause of death was unknown, and the whereabouts of his soul were unknown!
