They scattered, hiding inside the tree caves. There were many ear flies, and they each chose an area to wait for the arrival of the Feeding Birds of Prey.
Soon, the raucous flock of Feeding Birds of Prey arrived above the forest. Tens of thousands of them dove madly into the trees, hunting down any creature that couldn't escape in time.
Powerful beasts, tiny insects, flying birds, and burrowing vermin... all became their targets.
Meanwhile, the ear flies in the tree caves began to mimic the calls of the Feeding Birds of Prey.
These instigating calls quickly took effect. The Feeding Birds of Prey, constantly hearing what they thought were their own companions provoking them, abandoned their prey and turned on each other.
They didn't care where the sounds came from. As long as they felt irritated, they would attack indiscriminately.
