power system

The Arcane Circle SystemThe Foundation of PowerIn this world, magic is not talent alone.

It is structure.

Every mage is born with a dormant Arcane Seed embedded in the heart. When awakened, the seed forms the First Circle— a rotating ring of condensed mana engraved within the heart and connected to the entire body through invisible mana pathways.

These pathways function like veins.

The Circle functions like a furnace.

The body functions like a vessel.

A mage can construct up to Eight Circles.

The Ninth is death.

What Circles DoEach Circle increases:

Total mana capacity

Mana output strength

Mana density

Casting speed stability

Resistance to mana backlash

However, Circles must be built slowly through training and controlled compression of mana.

If forced:

The Circle fractures.

Mana explodes inward.

The heart collapses.

This is called Core Rupture.

The Eight CirclesFirst Circle – AwakeningBasic mana sensing.

Tier 1 spells available.

Body adapts to mana flow.

Second Circle – StabilizationLarger mana pool.

Reduces casting errors.

Enables sustained combat.

Third Circle – ReinforcementBody better withstands mana strain.

Tier 3 spells usable safely.

Faster spell construction.

Fourth Circle – AccelerationNoticeable casting speed increase.

Stable combat mage level.

Mana flows smoothly without stalling.

Fifth Circle – ExpansionLarge-scale spell capability.

Area magic becomes viable.

Elite academy threshold.

Sixth Circle – CompressionMana becomes denser and more destructive.

Spells become sharper and deadlier.

High noble / captain-level.

Seventh Circle – DominionBattlefield-scale magic.

Massive area influence.

Very rare.

Eighth Circle – ApexHuman limit.

Tier 8 magic possible.

Body constantly under extreme stress.

Only legends reach this stage.

Spell Tier SystemSpell Tiers measure complexity and destructive scale.

Circles determine whether the body can handle that Tier.

You cannot safely cast beyond your Circle stability.

Tier 1Minor sparks, water shaping, wind bursts.

Tier 2Combat-ready magic. Fireballs, wind blades.

Tier 3Advanced combat spells. Element reinforcement.

Tier 4Area spells. Defensive barriers.

Tier 5Multi-target or compressed attacks.

Tier 6Battlefield-impact magic.

Tier 7City-block level destruction.

Tier 8Catastrophic magic. Territory-altering spells.

Example:

A Third Circle mage attempting Tier 6 magic risks internal mana implosion.

Arcane Conduits (Wands)Magic is unstable without a focus.

Wands are formally known as Arcane Conduits.

They are external mana circuits designed to synchronize with a mage's Circles and stabilize spell construction.

A proper conduit:

Stabilizes mana flow

Reduces casting time

Amplifies elemental resonance

Decreases mana waste

Without a conduit, spells are inefficient and risky.

With the wrong conduit, casting becomes unstable.

Conduit GradesConduits are not ranked by Tier.

They are ranked by Grade, craftsmanship, and resonance capacity.

▣ Common GradeAcademy standard issue.

Balanced and safe.

Minimal amplification.

Used by First–Third Circle students.

Reliable, but ordinary.

▣ Rare GradeCrafted with elemental cores.

Enhances specific affinities.

Slight casting speed increase.

May include a minor passive effect.

Used by Fourth–Fifth Circle elites.

▣ Noble GradeCustom-built.

High mana synchronization.

Amplifies elemental output significantly.

Reduces mana consumption.

May partially bond to a specific mage.

Used by Sixth–Seventh Circle nobles and top academy rankers.

▣ Relic GradeExtremely rare.

Ancient or master-crafted.

Near-perfect synchronization.

Assists Circle stability.

Possesses unique abilities.

Some are semi-sentient.

Owned only by royalty or legends.

Resonance CompatibilityEvery mage has a Resonance Percentage with a conduit.

This determines efficiency.

30% → Unstable casting

50% → Average performance

70% → Efficient spell flow

85% → Amplified output

95%+ → Near-perfect synchronization

At high resonance:

Spell activation feels instant.

Mana waste approaches zero.

Element purity increases.

Two mages with the same Circle level can have completely different combat strength depending on resonance.

This is what makes academy duels unpredictable.

Conduit FormsConduits come in three primary forms:

Short ConduitFast casting.

Designed for aggressive or hybrid fighters.

Long Conduit (Staff)Maximum stability.

Ideal for long-range artillery mages.

Morph-Type ConduitCan transform into sword, spear, hammer, etc.

Extremely rare.

Requires high mana control.

Elite nobles favor morph-types.

Physical ReinforcementMages may channel mana into their bodies to enhance:

Speed

Strength

Durability

However, the human body is not built as a primary weapon.

Overuse causes:

Muscle rupture

Internal bleeding

Nerve burnout

Magic was designed to be projected outward.

Not inward.

The Anomaly — The MagiclessA person without an Arcane Seed cannot:

Form Circles

Use spells

Reinforce their body

Use conduits

They are considered powerless.

In academy law, they are classified as "Non-Functional."

And yet—

A magicless individual is also:

Immune to mana pressure suppression.

Invisible to mana detection.

Unaffected by anti-mage fields.

Impossible to read through magical sensing.

In a world where strength equals Circles…

Someone with none breaks the system itself.
