Chapter 134 - [Quirk: FLOAT]

….

"STAND DOWN, STUDENTS!"

A squad captain barked through his megaphone, riot shields locking edge to edge into a reinforced steel wall across the primary evacuation corridor–

"It is prohibited to cross the emergency line!"

"DON'T BLINK, EXTRAS!" Bakugo snarled.

Nobody hesitated or second guessed the decision as Class 1-A moved as a single, synchronized unit, using their Quirks not to assault the police line but to do something even more stupid.

CLACK-CLACK-BOOM!

Iida charged first, his exhaust ports roaring with blue flame as he gripped Tokoyami and Kirishima, driving them like a battering ram toward the front of the police line.

"Pardon our intrusion!"

Iida shouted as [Dark Shadow] erupted outward, expanding into a broad, shadowy barrier alongside Kirishima's hardened frame.

Moving at blinding speed, the three wedged directly between the interlocking riot shields, prying the barrier apart and peeling the perimeter wide open without landing a single strike on the officers.

Right behind them, Yaoyorozu dropped a carbon fiber launch rig onto the pavement–

"Midoriya-san! Ready!"

Midoriya sprinted through the gap, planting both boots onto the sling.

Sero instantly anchored twin strips of [Tape] to stabilize the tension on Midoriya's frame, while Mina coated the launch track with a super slick layer of acid to eliminate surface friction.

"Make it fly, Ochako!" Mina yelled.

Uraraka slammed all five fingertips against the base of the rig. "Release!"

With its mass erased to zero, the sling snapped forward with acceleration across the acid-slicked surface. Midoriya vaulted skyward into the night air, clearing the riot shields and the heads of the police officers in an instant.

"He's up!" Jirou yelled from below, tracking his elevation with her earphone jacks. "Todoroki, angle him!"

Shoto stepped forward. "Glacier Ramp!"

A colossal spire of pale, dense ice erupted from the asphalt, curving upward like a ski ramp toward the sky.

Midoriya hit the ramp, emerald bio electricity crackling around his frame. He leaned into the incline, using every ounce of momentum to rocket thousands of feet into the freezing, ozone choked sky.

High above Kamino Ward, the scale of what lay ahead was daunting.

The shockwaves radiating from Dabi's [Dragon Force] had created a massive wall of atmospheric turbulence; a chaotic barrier of drifting frost, shattered ice fragments, and superheated air currents guarding the edge of the crater.

Midoriya's initial momentum began to die off.

'I can't use a 100% blast here.' Midoriya understood in a split second. 'The shockwave from a full-power smash would detonate the air and might disrupt Dabi-sensei's field down below. And Blackwhip has nothing solid to anchor to up here!'

An explosive roar ripped through the slipstream.

"DEKU, YOU DAMN SLOW POKE!"

Katsuki Bakugo came blasting up the trail Midoriya had left behind, his palms popping with variable bursts as he closed the distance in a heartbeat, and without shouting another word, he met Midoriya's eyes midair for a fraction of a second and understood the assignment instantly.

Midoriya snapped twin lines of Blackwhip forward, wrapping the dark tendrils securely around Bakugo's armored waist.

Using his own body as the central fulcrum, Midoriya channeled his strength and swung his torso, rotating Bakugo in a centrifugal arc.

Bakugo fed directly into the angular momentum, firing a succession of concentrated AP-style blasts behind his boots to accelerate the spin.

At the apex of the curve, Bakugo inverted his stance and unleashed a point-blank blast directly behind the soles of Midoriya's boots:

"STUN GRENADE... MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE!"

KABOOOOM–!

The shockwave collided flatly against Midoriya's soles; acting as an explosive secondary booster stage, the blast propelled him forward like a railgun projectile straight towards the battle, while the equal and opposite recoil threw Bakugo downward toward the lower drop zone.

'Go, you damn nerd...!'

Midoriya tore through the outer ring of the frostfire storm.

Down in the basin, Dabi was stepping forward, his scale hardened arms wreathed in roaring blue fire and frost as he prepared to deliver a decisive strike against the parasite controlling Shigaraki's stolen body.

Midoriya fired a cord of [Blackwhip] downward, aiming to tether himself to a surviving ice spire and swing directly to be heard.

TCH-SSSHHH–!

However, the extreme pressure radiating from Dabi's scales instantly vaporized the shadowy energy before it could latch onto the structure.

Midoriya's forward velocity hit a dead stop.

He hung suspended in mid-air, hundreds of feet above the crater floor, gravity pulling him down.

Completely out of reach to speak any sense to Shigaraki trapped beneath the parasite.

'No... not yet!' Midoriya's mind screamed, his wide green eyes locking onto Shigaraki's bleeding face below. 'I just need to stay up... I just need one more push...!'

His consciousness flashed into a sudden, blinding stillness.

….

Inside the void of the One For All vestige realm, the dark floor rippled like undisturbed water.

The predecessors stood watching the boy's desperate reach.

But one figure stepped out ahead of the rest.

Nana Shimura walked forward.

Her tears had cleared, replaced by a warm, and resolute expression as she looked down at the sequence of happenings through Midoriya's senses; at her grandson, Tenko, drowning beneath All For One's parasitic will.

She turned toward Izuku Midoriya's glowing consciousness, a gentle, maternal smile gracing her face.

"You've carried our will this far, Izuku." Nana said, her voice resonant and clear. "Don't you dare fall now."

Stepping directly behind him, Nana placed her open palms against Midoriya's shoulder blades, to support him with the grace of a predecessor passing the mantle.

"The sky is yours, kiddo."

….

HUMMMMMM–!

Back in the physical world, Midoriya's descent stopped instantly.

He did not fall, and the downward acceleration pulling his body toward the ground simply vanished.

A subtle, pale glow washed over his shoulders.

Midoriya hung perfectly poised in the open sky.

[Quick: FLOAT]

'Is it Nana's quirk?'

He understood as his eyes flared with brilliance.

He is floating, and with a conscious effort, Midoriya drifted smoothly over the precipice of the crater, hovering directly above where Dabi and the All For One stood.

Taking a deep breath, Midoriya drew from the absolute core of his lungs and yelled across the entire basin:

"TENKO SHIMURA–!!!"

The live broadcast footage coming out of Kamino Ward defied every established law of combat logic, leaving the entire world staring at their screens in bewilderment.

Up in the circling news choppers, the telephoto lenses scrambled to keep focus as the chaotic sequence played out.

Just seconds after the bloodied Symbol of Peace had been carefully extracted by Dabi's ice, a squad of high-school freshmen had bypassed an armed police barricade in a matter of seconds.

"W-What are we seeing?!" the lead reporter shouted into his microphone, his voice cracking with pure disbelief.

"A group of students…. first-years from U.A. High… have just breached the police containment line! They've launched one of their own straight into the strike zone!"

The visual feed was so absurd it looked entirely choreographed:

A student barreling through armored shields, a zero-gravity carbon launcher snapping on a sheet of acid, an ice ramp shooting skyward, and an explosive mid-air centrifugal catapult that looked like an impossible circus stunt.

In public shelters, city streets, and newsrooms across Japan, millions of jaws collectively dropped.

"Are they insane?!" a bystander in Tokyo yelled, clutching his head as he stared up at the massive LED billboard–

"That's a level-five disaster zone! The entire city block is literally melting, and why would a kid consciously jump in?!"

"What are the heroes doing?! Why aren't they stopping them?!"

"Is that a first-year student... flying?!"

Down at the outer perimeter of Kamino Ward, the police officers who had been cleanly bypassed stood with their shields lowered, blinking in complete shock as they stared up at the fading green trail in the clouds.

"Did those kids just... launch a human missile over our heads?" a younger officer stammered, his grip on his baton going limp.

"They didn't harm any of us…?" the squad captain muttered, lowering his megaphone with a dazed expression.

Even the media anchors, who were supposed to provide structured commentary, were utterly lost for words.

The sight of a green-haired teenager floating weightlessly thousands of feet above an apocalyptic crater, while Blue Sun, and whatever villain he is been fighting, was so completely detached from conventional hero training that no one could fathom what U.A.'s Class 1-A was trying to achieve.

"He's... he's standing in mid-air!" the news anchor gasped, leaning over his desk as the cameras zoomed in on the glowing figure hovering directly above the raging tempest–

"...the boy is just floating there! What on earth is that kid planning to do against a monster like that?!"

…..

Minutes before Izuku Midoriya was catapulted into the sky above Kamino Ward, the battle within the basin had completely separated itself from the mortal realm.

Dabi was no longer fighting with human restraint.

Locked deep within his [Dragon Force] state, every breath he took exhaled a dual elemental storm.

Blinding sapphire plasma tore from his jaws in sweeps, immediately followed by torrents of frost that froze the bedrock and crystallized whatever debris was thrown his way.

He moved like an elder dragon awakening from myth.

His enhanced senses of [Arachnid Genome], were combined with his dragon senses, resulting in reducing the time to think and react immensely.

It was as if time worked differently for him.

And due to this, Dabi had felt it the exact moment a felt erratic moment outside the wall ice.

He knew his problem children were up to something absurd.

'Those suicidal brats...'

Dabi thought, though he didn't turn his head to look.
