Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: A Cursed Spirit Girlfriend

...

"Cough, cough, you really do not hold back."

Kurumi forced the words out, voice rough from being choked. Even so, that enchanting smile was still resting on her lips.

This one really was lethal in more ways than one, a walking hazard who radiated charm every second she existed.

Shun said calmly, "When it comes to cursed spirits, there is no point worrying about being rough or not. You just need to get rid of them."

"You really hate curses that much?"

Kurumi stared straight into his eyes. Misty pale blue met the clock like glow of her heterochromatic gaze. For a split second, it felt like something shifted between them, and at the same time, like nothing at all had changed.

"If you lot stayed in some stinking sewer and did not climb out to cause trouble, there would be no question of whether I hate you or not."

Shun hated hassle. He did not even want to be a sorcerer in the first place. But with that system like special grade curse lodged in his body, and as one of the only two people in the Gojo clan with Six Eyes, he had been dragged into all of this whether he liked it or not.

There were only two ways out.

One, he became strong enough that no one could force him to do anything. That did not apply to Satoru, of course. The man had raised him with his own hands. Even if Shun complained and mocked him every day, he still respected him deeply. Whatever Satoru asked him to do, he was willing to handle.

Everyone else could forget it. Especially those crusty higher ups. They should just lie quietly in their coffins and make way for the younger generation, idiots.

The second way was to make every curse that liked to stir up trouble behave itself and stop causing incidents. Then the sorcerers could all retire, and he would not have to run around all the time.

Obviously, that was not realistic. Cursed spirits that did not cause trouble, even dogs would not believe that.

"Really? If you do not hate us that much, how about I be your girlfriend?"

Her neck was about to be snapped, yet Kurumi still spoke in that flippant, teasing tone.

Shun frowned. To be honest, he had never seen a cursed spirit like this in his life. Most of all, he could not feel that suffocating hatred and resentment that curses usually carried from her at all.

"Sorry, there is reproductive isolation between us."

He shook his head and replied without a hint of emotion, "Besides, I am a good person. You are not worthy."

"Why not? I am this pretty, and my figure is great."

Kurumi looked genuinely offended.

"Sure, I kill people, toy with sorcerers, stir up trouble from time to time, mess with social order a little."

"But I am still a good girl."

Crouched in the back, JK Kurumi curled her lips and muttered, "That is clearly a criminal, not a good girl."

"Do you help old ladies cross the street and feed stray animals?" Shun asked, curious.

Kurumi thought for a moment. "Helping people cross the street depends on whether they are trying to fake an accident or not."

"As for feeding stray animals, of course I do. Girls absolutely need to be kind hearted."Her big eyes sparkled as she spoke.

It was just a shame she was a cursed spirit.

Shun nodded. "In that case, you really are a good cursed spirit."

"Good girl," Kurumi corrected.

"Right, good girl."

As a gentleman, Shun felt that as long as she was female and her personality was not awful, calling her a good girl was fine. Although now that he thought about it, when did "good girl" start getting used as an insult in society?

"This is insane."

JK Kurumi stared at the two of them in disbelief as they started chatting like friends.

Hey, hey, hey, you two were just fighting for your lives a second ago.

How did this turn into a casual conversation?

That woman who looks exactly like me, your neck is about to be snapped. And Shun, she is lifting her gun again.

"So, what do you think about me being your girlfriend?"

Kurumi slowly raised the flintlock.

Shun shrugged. "If I say no, are you going to shoot me?"

Kurumi sighed regretfully. "If I could, that would be nice. But it seems my bullets cannot hit you."

Limitless really was broken. Aside from poison, no attack could even get close to him, unless the opponent's cursed energy completely crushed his.

"In that case, Shun, will you let my bullet hit you?"

Her red lips parted slightly, impossibly alluring.

He rejected her just as calmly. "Stop fooling around."

His hand around her neck tightened, digging deeper, more and more cursed energy seeping into her body. Her slender throat was already squeezed to nearly half its original size. A normal human would have died long ago, but she was a curse.

"It really hurts, cough."

Kurumi spat out a mouthful of blood, yet she was still smiling, eerily beautiful.

"But dying like this is way too ugly. I absolutely refuse."

With that, she lifted the flintlock and aimed it at her own temple.

"That child over there, I wonder if she has anything to do with us."

A mysterious smile curved her lips as she pulled the trigger.

"Shun, you had better watch closely."
