Nico went into panic mode immediately.
"Mara!" He dropped to his knees beside the four-poster bed, his broad hands hovering over her trembling frame, afraid that touching her might make the pain worse. "Talk to me! Where is it?"
Mara couldn't speak.
Her face was drained of all colour; her lips were parted in a silent, desperate gasp as another sharp, violent cramp seized her lower abdomen. Her fingers dug into the white silk sheets, her chest heaving as tears of pure terror spilled down her cheeks.
"Luca!" Nico's roar tore through the quiet bedroom, echoing down the stone corridors of the master wing. "Luca!"
The double doors burst open three seconds later. Luca stood in the doorway, his hand automatically on his sidearm, his eyes widening in shock as he saw Mara curled in pain on the bed and Nico kneeling beside her.
"Get the estate doctor up here now!" Nico ordered. "Bring the mobile ultrasound from the medical bay! Move!"
