Chapter 3 - CHAPTER THREE

"Let's begin!" Jake William ordered. His expression, has cold as ice. The party began in full swing. Food was served, drinks were served. The elders and council each came to offer toast to Jake.

Jake accepted each one of them not minding the deceit behind their word.

" My Lord, it's like you aren't feeling too well, you are stained in blood. Why don't you go and change and treat your injury, we promise to hold the fort here for you "

One of the council requested, his eyes as sharp as razor stare at Jake, trying to intimidate him. Everyone looked forward trying to know what Jake would do, either back down or what?

When he sees that Jake returned injured, he tries to intimidate him. Aware of what was going on Jake's pupil turned dark red.

The council of elders felt his soul leaving him, an image of Skull appeared like a projection in the council mind. Making him freeze on the spot. The council wolf got so scared that it's kneel bend a little.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I was only looking out for you, please forgive me don't get offended." The council apologized repeatedly for finding a hole to hide. He had only intended to embarrass Jake, making him a subject of public mockery.

Jake ignored him by closing his eyes, giving him a leeway to escape. His mind wandered as he began thinking about life after that night. He entered his consciousness, where skull rested asleep.

"Hey buddy, how have you been doing?" Jake sighs, feeling the fur of his beast. The huge beast just laid down, its body no longer riddled with wounds.

"It's been five hundred years, when are you waking up" 300 hundred years was enough for Skull to get better, but for it not to be able to be awakened made Jake worry sick. It was never because of what people said, but not able to talk to his best buddy for over 500 years looked like torture.

" Do I really have to find a mate?"

Returning back, he opened his eyes and the once tender expression was gone, replaced by an emotionless expression. Out of boredom he scanned the whole hall, he met eye to eye with Chase and Terry, his step brothers.

Chase a golden-haired handsome young man dressed in a royal outfit with a smile on his face. He always wore that smile, like everything was alright, making everyone picture the perfect candidate, a peaceful man. People even flock around him, they laugh and gist, making merriment. Even the council that wanted to intimidate him was seen around him.

Terry kept staring at Jake with disgust, surprisely not hiding the fact that he hated him, but when Jake returned the stare. He felt a sharp burning pain in his eyes. Hissing coldly he went away from the crowd,

Jake smiled in deference. "Cowards" Jake mutter

Then His eyes by coincidence settled on something, a gaze. Jake's heart skipped a bit. Skull made a low growl that made the entire Hall went silent.

"What was that!" Everyone faced Jake who sat on his throne from above, while looking down from below.

Sarah, the Luna of fearless pack, heard a growl. Unlike any one that felt pressure, Sarah felt safe. Turning to the direction of the growl. Her wolf growl slowly, she felt something she hasn't felt in her life. A connection. A connection between them, she could feel his wolf reaction, as if it struggles to wake up, but for some reason couldn't. She knew he could feel her wolf reaction, her emotions.

Why?

And the answer lies in one word

MATE

Kelvin teleported from his current position to where Jake sat down.

"You found her, your mate," Kelvin guessed, using telepathy to communicate.

Kelvin wasn't just Jake's brother in law, but he was his best friend and his second in command.

Jake looked at Kelvin, a surprise flash through his eyes. "You noticed"

Kelvin didn't deny it "hmm, and I am sure those people probably noticed as well" The people Kelvin was referring to were Chase and Terry with some of the elders in council that have years of experience. Others might think the reason for Jake growling was because his wolf was about to awaken.

Chase followed Jake gaze, his eyes darkened when he saw a woman, dressed in a blue Royal outfit, She carried herself with effortless grace, every movement soft and unhurried, as if elegance came naturally to her. Her beauty was gentle, not demanding attention, yet impossible to ignore. Calm, expressive eyes reflected warmth and depth, while her smile—subtle and sincere—had a way of easing hearts. Chase knew in his heart that this woman is Jake's mate. But she was the irony of life, she was already marked by another man. Chase chuckled sarcastically. But then she can't stay alive. It took so many years for him to be able to bend Jake to his will unknowingly. And him bringing a mate will spoil things off. She can't stay alive, definitely not stay alive.

"Sarah, are you alright? You look a little bit off?" Stan, Sarah's husband, best friend and leader of the fearless pack. He placed his hand around her waist. For the first time, Sarah felt uncomfortable, especially when there was someone looking from above. She felt she was cheating or something, her wolf growling in anger. For some reason her wolf disliked Stan, a reason unknown to her. Moving away from his touch, Sarah tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

"I think I'm feeling unwell, I need to go back to rest"

Stan smiled brightly. "No problem, come let's get going, I will message the elders so we can get going together" Stan left to look for the elders. But for some unknown reason, he felt his wolf stiffen in fear, his wolf stirred in urgency to run. "what a murderous intent" Stan searched around using his consciousness, but wasn't able to get anything. Which senior has he offended? Stan made it a point of duty to tell the elders, in case anything goes South, he has to keep Sarah safe, nothing must happen to her.
