I could not lie, I enjoyed the power. The little bit that I was now being shown felt incredible, almost made me wonder if I will be able to walk away from all this when we were finally done with our arrangements.
When we were finally alone, his smile faded almost instantly and he stared at me with mild annoyance.
" What part of get here quick did you not understand?" He asked.
I scoffed.
" I had a problem with my friend. She kicked me out of the house because of this issue. Do you still feel unremorseful?" I asked him, the pain now hitting me all over again.
But he did not say anything. Instead he just shrugged.
" That doesn't matter..you have to move into my house soon anyways" he said and now it was my turn to be angry.
" What do you mean by that?! You never said any of this!" I yelled at him in anger.
" It was in the contract. The press won't believe we are truly together if we stay apart. And since now your friend kicked you out, it's the best time to move. You can pick your stuff up from her house later" he said simply.
I wanted to yell at him, to punch him in the face for not making me read the terms of the contract but I was stopped by a sickly sweet voice.
" Jayden baby! It's been such a long time" someone said.
" Smile" Jayden gritted to me as he turned around to look at the woman.
She was tall and slender, an epitome of the perfect woman. From her average sized boobs to her beautiful shape and classy demeanor. I could almost see the both of them getting married and fitting into each other's lives perfectly.
" Melinda." Jayden said curtly, not paying her enough heed.
Even though he refused she still managed to pull him in for a hug, making sure to press her chest firmly on his as she chuckled slightly.
Her eyes now turned to look at me,.the disgust clear like crystal.
" I saw her on the news. So this is the fiancee huh? Where did you meet her? In the garbage dump?" She asked, laughing slightly but Jayden did not find it funny.
" You will not talk to my woman that way. Not in front of her and not behind her. Got it?" He asked.
The anger in his voice, how well he managed to spook me too even though the anger was not directed at me.
Her eyes flustered and the shock cascaded out of her life waves of water.
" You are yelling at me because of this thing? Do you know how much history we both have together?" She was saying, her voice nearly tears now, nearly making me feel bad.
" I don't care if you are the closest person to me or my shadow itself. Never talk about her like that especially when I'm standing here or else I will not take it lightly with you" he said.

She cast one last look of disgust at me, stomping off.
When Jayden finally turned to look at me again, I could feel a small blush forming on my cheeks at how well he had defended me.
"Never look downcast when you are with me. You are such a terrible actress .I should have asked for that before hiring you" he said to me.
The slight satisfaction I felt with him was gone in an instant, a scowl replacing what was a cherry smile.
" Go into the dressing room. We have to pick a suitable outfit for you to wear to see my parents soon" he said.
